Residential Development, Beckenham, Kent The joint venture company is acquiring a prime commercial site in Beckenham, Kent for £1.1m. With planning approval to demolish the property and to construct eight new luxury apartments, the GDV is in excess of £4m.

Residential Development, London, SE1 The joint venture company enabled an established developer to acquire the site for £2.2m with planning consent to build a single 9,278 sq ft residential property with a GDV in excess of £7m. With a new planning consent to construct three 4,500 sq ft residential properties, the GDV is in excess of £11m. This not only maximised the value of the site but also de-risked the development by creating three lower priced units.

Residential Purchase and Development, South London

The joint venture company purchased a site consisting of five houses for £2.8m. The site was close to a major town centre. The company subsequently gained planning approval for 50 units with a GDV of £18m and is in the construction phase of the development.

․ Matthew Lawrence DIP.M FCIM Chairman
Matthew has over 30 years’ experience of investing, specialist marketing and corporate finance. In recent years he has been actively involved in mentoring young, fast growing companies. Matthew has also personally founded companies across a variety of sectors in both Europe and Asia, from technology, property and aviation to finance. He is currently providing strategic marketing and business direction at board level. Matthew’s knowledge of financial markets and corporate finance is extensive. For several years he was a director of a stock exchange listed investment fund operating in the commodity and futures trading sector, and currently has a personal interest in a futures trading firm. Matthew is a board member of various companies and a Non Executive Chairman for a large UK property group. Matthew holds the Chartered institute of Marketing’s postgraduate diploma and is an elected fellow of the Institute.

․ Denny Lane CISI
Director – Sales and Business Development Denny has more than 20 years’ experience in the consumer and property lending industry. His career began with Lloyds in London’s main financial district, as a relationship manager with direct responsibility for a group of high net worth clients and swiftly expanded to the Head of Sales of Close Brothers Bank. At Close, Denny was tasked with growing the Jersey-based business and was responsible for all lending. Over four years, Denny grew the Close loan book from £20m to £120m whilst working with the UK board to manage this business. Denny has a strong ability to identify successful opportunities, and a particular expertise in deal flow and origination. Responsible for Sales and Business Development at Prospect Capital, Denny has been instrumental in evolving the business into its current position of a well-established lender, working with a wide variety of stakeholders across the whole spectrum of the short-term lending industry. Denny is actively responsible for developing new business using his extensive networks within the corporate finance and private investment space both in Jersey and the UK. He qualified as a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments (CISI) in 2005.

․ SP Du Toit BA, BProc, TEP Director – Legal
SP is an accomplished, practising commercial attorney and senior executive with more than 22 years’ experience in commercial and contract law, property law (project structuring, development and management), as well as debt and equity funding.

SP is an attorney of the High Court of South Africa with higher rights of appearance and a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales (non-practising). He is a STEP certified Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP), a CEDR Accredited Commercial Mediator and a full member of the Institute of Directors (IOD). SP has also held directorships in several national and international companies involved in various sectors, ranging from mining, property development and investment to finance.

Prior to joining Prospect Capital, SP practised law as the Managing Director of a boutique multi-jurisdictional law firm. He specialised in corporate and commercial law, alternative investments and private equity transactions, trust law, compliance and regulatory law and alternative dispute resolution.

․ Wendy Bourne
Director – Finance and Administration
Wendy has worked for Asia Pacific Group for over 20 years, initially responsible for the Group’s financial administration and later as Chief Financial Officer where she is responsible for overseeing and managing the financial accounts, budgets and operations of the Group’s various investment holdings. She is also a director for some of the Group’s underlying companies and has been an active member of various investment boards and advisory committees. Wendy is particularly skilled at financial modelling and developing management reporting systems that span all the disciplines of a company not just the financial side of the business. For more than six years Wendy was also responsible for the risk oversight of a stock exchange listed fund that traded futures contracts on global exchanges. This entailed monitoring at a high level the activities of the traders, ensuring that all contracts were rolled in time to avoid delivery as well as being able to trade commodities and currencies on various global markets including ICE, Globex and Nymex. Wendy has primary responsibility for the company’s Finance and Administration.

․ Lochner Eksteen MBA, CISA
Director – Risk and Compliance Lochner is a Certified Information Systems Auditor, who has over 15 years’ experience in Compliance, Risk Management and Information Security across a variety of financial institutions.

Lochner has designed and implemented global company compliance policies and procedures as well as detailed risk and quality management systems for Prospect Capital. In addition, Lochner has extensive experience in the auditing of company-wide policies and procedures, including the continual monitoring of programmes, IT systems and processes. He has established compliance steering committees and implemented risk management frameworks across businesses worldwide, to ensure continual regulatory compliance and adequate internal controls across all business departments. Lochner sits on Prospect Capital’s Advisory Board and is responsible for the ongoing oversight of operational governance and regulatory compliance of the business. Lochner holds an MBA from The University of Stellenbosch Business School.

․ Tim Morton
Business Development Manager Tim has had a very varied and interesting background; from a bank clerk in a small Australian gold mining town, to repossession agent for a large Australian finance company in his younger years, followed by a couple of years as a professional golf caddy on the European and US PGA tours. After returning to Jersey in the late 80s Tim joined and became a director of the dynamic team at Channel Island Money Brokers, which was widely regarded as the leading broker in the buoyant money markets of the 80s and 90s. In 2000 he took a complete change of direction when he set up and ran the well regarded high end furniture retail business Morton and Morton Ltd which he still owns to this day. Tim has developed a large network of business relationships, clients and friendships over the years and has already worked with Prospect Capital on an informal basis for the past year. He is delighted to formally join the Prospect Capital Team where the combination of his experience, connections, client sales and service skills create an ideal platform for his role in business development.

Social and Corporate Responsibility
Beth originally worked in London for the global advertising agency J Walter Thompson, until she moved to Sydney initially working for the Australian government. Subsequently she joined The London Stock Exchange Group in Sydney where, among other responsibilities, she was assigned sole responsibility for social and corporate responsibility.

During this time, she was responsible for organising and running various charitable events that successfully engaged the LSEG with the local community and raised significant amounts of money for a variety of charities including the Humpty Dumpty Foundation that provides vital medical equipment to paediatric departments in public hospitals, the Australian Indigenous Education Foundation, which changes the lives of ambitious children who would not otherwise have the chance of an education and Cancer Council Australia, a non-government organisation that advises the government and other bodies on practices and policies to help prevent, detect and treat cancer.

Beth is responsible for Prospect Capital's social and corporate responsibility programme and will advise the board on opportunities for the business to participate in a variety of charitable projects, which is something the Directors are very committed to.

Chantall is a personable team player who thrives in our fast paced environment, able to adapt quickly to change and provide practical solutions to complex problems. She is particularly adept at building relationships at all levels and passionate about helping others and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Before moving to Jersey, Chantall worked as an internal auditor and Quality Management System Consultant in South Africa assisting small to medium sized businesses. Chantall worked with a variety of companies from numerous industries, which required her to rapidly understand business processes and how best to approach implementing changes resulting in greater operational efficiencies, increased profitability, and a purposeful customer focus.

Dr Stuart Gibson, PhD MSc DipM FCIM FCMI, is an expert and leading authority on global private wealth and has spent over 35 years working and collaborating with global financial organisations in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Africa and USA.

After several years working in the Middle East, Stuart moved to Jersey in 1998 and started working for Mourant; followed by over ten years with South African banking group FirstRand (Ashburton Investments, FNB Private Wealth and RMB Private Bank). Stuart founded his research, education and strategic consulting firm Gibson Strategy in 2011, focusing on the private client and wealth management industry. He has interviewed over 1,000 private clients (HNWs, UHNWs), family offices and private wealth professionals.
