Social and Emotional Health

Human connection is a key component to positive emotional health and personal growth. Prosper ISD is committed to the belief that a sense of belonging to a greater community improves an individual’s motivation, health, and happiness. Prosper ISD is committed to ensuring a positive social emotional health for the whole child believing that social emotional learning is a valuable investment in Prosper ISD students’ futures but that it will also add to the overall wellbeing of Prosper ISD staff members. Ultimately, these action plans will help to meet the goal that all Prosper ISD students graduate ready to be contributing members of society in whatever capacity they choose.

TeleHealth

Prosper ISD partners with Children’s Health to provide school based telehealth for Prosper ISD students. The program provides students who become ill at school with convenient, onsite access to Children’s Health providers. With a completed consent form and parent permission and at the recommendation of the school nurse, video technology is used to connect the student with a doctor or pediatric nurse practitioner at Children’s Health. The student can be diagnosed and have prescriptions sent to the pharmacy, all without having to leave school for a doctor’s appointment or the parent having to leave work, in most cases. Prompt examination and treatment by a provider reduces absenteeism and helps keep children in school, healthy, and ready to learn.

TeleBehavioral Health

Prosper ISD partners with Children’s Health for School-Based Telebehavioral Health Services. Students can receive telebehavioral counseling during the school day from a Children’s Health provider at no cost to families.

Hope Squad

In 2019-2020 Prosper ISD implemented Hope Squads on all of our secondary campuses. In 2020-2021 we implemented

Junior Hope Squads on all of our elementary campuses. Hope Squad is a Peer to Peer Suicide Prevention Program approved through TEA.

Parent Seminars

Prosper ISD hosts four parent education opportunities each year focused on health and wellness. This year each campus will host at least two “Coffee with the Counselor” events to go over campus specific needs. Monitor district social media and website announcements for upcoming seminars.
