For many children and adults with special needs, autism or otherwise, swimming can be a very therapeutic pastime. For autistic individuals water can be calming on sensory overloads, provide a weightless environment, and it’s often very freeing. The commotion and bustle of open swim can be overwhelming or intimidating. The City of Prosser has set aside some hours for Sensory Swim, a time when children and their families can come and enjoy a sensory sensitive environment.
