HOSPITAL

a building brief on the Providence Care Hospital

Providence Care room and ITS inventory

In order to complete the inventory information needed to be collected from each room that had a computer and / or phone. Staff were required to collect phone extensions, computer ITS numbers, as well as log on to each computer and collect information from within the system.

Over the last month the redevelopment team in conjunction with Information Services (IS) and the Joint Planning Office (JPO) went through the process of updating space inventories for Providence Care. In order to update the space inventories, redevelopment staff member Marie Turnbull conducted a cross-site room inventory that included gathering information on room number, occupant, usage, computer ITS number, phone extension, etc. These space inventories will help with upcoming hospital planning, preparation for renovations and eventually the transition work that will need to occur for the new hospital. The information collected in the inventory will also provide up-to-date

information for Information Services (IS) and the Electronic Patient Record (ePR) project on devices in use at all sites. Now that the physical inventory has been completed at MHS, St. Mary’s of the Lake, Providence Manor, and Montreal Street, the information will be entered in to a database to be used in the future. The database will be created based on the architectural drawings provided by the JPO, that will be shared by all of the departments involved. The database will be updated regularly going forward through the regular use of Information Systems Access Request (ISAR) forms and moves coordinated by the JPO with Move Application’s.

Volunteers present $50,000 cheque to UHKF for our new hospital

The volunteers at our St. Mary’s of the Lake and Mental Health Services facilities presented a cheque in the amount of $50,000 towards their $250,000 pledge to the new Providence Care hospital. Volunteers have contributed $150,000 to date, towards the pledge. The cheque presentation took place at the volunteer luncheon on April 19, 2013, presenting the $50,000 cheque to Denise Cumming, Director of the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation.

Funds raised by our volunteers are not only contributing to the new hospital, but also meeting the needs of our patients and clients at both St. Mary’s and Mental Health Services with special requests, i.e. walkers, assistive devices, clothing, movies, DVD’s, furniture, and equipment, to name just a few.

New hospital update at Providence Care’s June Staff Forums At the Providence Care June Staff Forums, redevelopment team members Krista WellsPierce and Maureen McGuire updated staff on where we are in the redevelopment process. The redevelopment team reported the exciting news that we are in the final stretch of the Request for Proposal (RFP) process. The three short-listed proponent teams consisting of Integrated Team Solutions, Plenary Health, and Providence Alliance for Caring Environments, are making their final bid presentations to Infrastructure Ontario

(IO), Providence Care and the Ministry of Health in the next few weeks. Once bids are received, they will be reviewed by an evaluation committee and a preferred proponent will be selected. This process is expected to take a few months and we can anticipate being able to annouce the preferred proponent late this fall. After the preferred proponent has been announced Providence Care will work with the proponent on detailed designs with a groundbreaking planned for the end of 2013.
