Providence Care Providence Care is southeastern Ontario’s leading provider of Aging, Mental Health and Rehabilitative Care. Fully-affiliated with Queen’s University, Providence Care is a centre for health education and research, and a member of the Council of Academic Hospitals of Ontario. Continuing the legacy of our Founders, the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul, Providence Care is sponsored by the Catholic Health Corporation of Ontario. Providence Care provides a range of outreach health care services from 12 community-based locations across the region, and also operates St. Mary’s of the Lake Hospital, Mental Health Services and the Providence Manor long-term care home (Kingston).
Adult Mental Health
Long-Term Care
� Treatment and rehabilitation for people challenged with a mood disorder (major depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety), schizophrenia and personality disorders.
� Home for frail seniors whose medical conditions are stable, with a specialized dementia care unit and respite care.
Complex Medical Care � Care for patients with a long-term illness and multiple needs requiring 24 hour nursing care. � Respite care for patients who are
normally cared for at home (providing relief to caregivers).
Forensic Mental Health � Assessment, treatment and
rehabilitation for psychiatric patients who come into contact with the law.
Seniors Rehabilitative Care � Specialized care for seniors with complex health needs, and expert resources for professionals and caregivers in southeastern Ontario.
Seniors Mental Health � Care and treatment for older people
with mental illnesses, behavioural disturbance and cognitive impairment.
� Social/activity opportunities for adults through day programs and support for people living with a disability in the community.
End-of-Life Care � Compassionate and comprehensive care for the terminally ill and their families at a time when treatment aimed at cure and prolongation of life is no longer appropriate.
Rehabilitation � Rehabilitation for people with acquired brain injuries, stroke, musculoskeletal, and spinal cord injuries. � Services for individuals requiring speech pathology; occupational therapy; physiotherapy; speech language pathology; amputee, vestibular, respiratory, or cardiac rehabilitation; brain injury services; rehabilitation management; accident recovery and injured workers assistance.
