FRIARS AND RADIO

The first local radio package broadcast of a Friar game was January 17, 1959 when Boston College defeated PC 51-49. This year marks the 61st season that PC basketball can be heard on local radio.

FRIARS AND TELEVISION

PC lost to Bradley in the NIT Championship on March 22, 1960 before a national TV audience. The first game televised as part of a local package was when Holy Cross defeated PC 77-72 on March 4, 1961. This year marks the 59th season that PC can be seen on local TV.

NEW ENGLAND OPPONENTS

Providence has a 691-306 record versus all New England opponents, twice compiling 24 game winning streaks in the region, and has won 20 New England championships.

FIVE WITH 1000

During the 2008-09 season, Providence had five players - Weyinmi Efejuku, Jeff Xavier, Geoff McDermott, Randall Hanke and Sharaud Curry - with 1000 career points apiece. In the history of college basketball, only one other school - Florida, in 2007 - also had five players with 1000 points in the same season.
