RHODY PET OF THE MONTH: SCOUT
By Karen Kalunian
A dog-lover seeking fun and adventure is the perfect match for Scout. A tenmonth-old Aussie and Heeler mixed-breed with a colorful coat, this affectionate thrill-seeker loves everyone he meets. Long walks, car rides, and romping around the yard are Scout’s top three interests, so a home with a fenced-in yard for games of fetch would be ideal. Scout is available for adoption through One Dog at a Time Rescue in Tiverton. To see those big eyes and perky ears in person, call 508-826-3073 to make an appointment, or visit ODAATRescue.com.

For the indulgent pet parent wanting to go the extra mile for their fur baby’s birthday or an event planner organizing a dog-friendly fall festival, the Woof Wagon is the treat service you never knew you needed. Posting up across the street from or right on the field of your event, this eye-catching treat truck was custom-designed for Bristol’s popular WOOF! WOOF! Pet Boutique & Biscuit Bar to bring their quality goodies all over the state.
Owner Sherri DeChaine is a former veterinary technician with a background in human nutrition, so you can rest assured that she selects “only the very best from the vast ocean of pet products on the market.”
“All of our treats, toys, bandanas, collars, and leashes are hand-picked, researched, and tested by our staff,” DeChaine continues, and final approval comes from her English Bulldog Frannie. (You may have recently seen the pair of them interviewed on ABC6 News during their summer stint at Providence Flea.)
DeChaine supports local vendors from Rhode Island and around New England, and everything on board the wagon – from clam chowder snacks to squeaky toy sharks – is made in the US. Whatever the weather, one of the hottest items is the frozen treats – the dogs just lap them up. Best of all, if a local nonprofit rescue or shelter books the Woof Wagon for an event, DeChaine generously donates 15 percent of the profits from that day’s sales to support the host organization.
On September 17, you and your pup can experience the Woof Wagon in pawson at one of the state’s biggest pet fundraisers, Paws in the Park. In its 20th year, this annual Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) dog-walking event is hosted by five-year-old Saint Bernard-mix Ambassa-Dog Daisy. Along with treats trundling onto the scene, there will be fun-filled
