What makes it a Rhody Gem?
This unique and inclusive styling space is designed for the young and the young at heart. The “Free Mullets” sign isn’t joking either – Crops does an average of 15 a week. “There are many reasons for a mullet. We service everyone from die-hard hockey fans, rednecks, those nostalgic for the ‘80s, and the occasional unfortunate soul that lost a football bet,” says co-owner Madelyn Selwyn. Apart from mullets, their diverse sta o ers something for everyone, from classic barbershop cuts and shaves, to precision cuts, to bright unicorn colors, and even protective styles such as locs and braids. Crops’ interior sports green, blooming plants from floor to ceiling, and flattering LED lighting, and their walls are lined with artwork and jewelry crafted by local artists and artisans. Co-owners Selwyn, Adriana Baton, and Seth Poling believe in giving back to the community. High school students from The Met School hone their skills through an internship program and they host shopping events to support local, e-commerce-based businesses.
