What makes it a Rhody Gem?
Calm vibes and a peaceful aura envelop you when arriving at this retail space that provides eco-friendly, fair trade alternatives to everyday home and beauty items. Owner Marissa Cox combined her passion for environmental causes with her experience in retail to create this mission-forward outpost for all things sustainable. Cox intentionally selects each item to ensure it’s made sustainably and ethically. Many local artisans are represented among the hand-crafted goods. Products range from sponge cloths to house-made baking soda-free deodorant. At the “refill and chill” station, customers can choose from several refillable products like shampoo and conditioner. The essential oils and natural herbs used in the vegan and organic soaps infuse calming scents into the serene lounge area, where customers can hang out for Communi-Tea, a monthly herbal tea gathering, or participate in upcycled art workshops and DIY make-and-take events. “My hope is to serve not only as a place to stock up on sustainable products and gifts, but also as a space to discover and build community,” says Cox.
