‘SCIENCE FOR SEMINARIES’ SEED GRANT

Providence Theological Seminary was awarded a Science for Seminaries seed grant in the amount of $15K for the 2021-22 academic year. It is part of an initiative that offers one year of funding to 12 seminaries accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS). On March 19, 2022, Providence hosted an online symposium co-sponsored by Providence Theological Seminary and the Canadian Scientific and Christian Affiliation (CSCA). The topic of the symposium was Integrating Science and Faith and featured three experts in the fields of science and Christian faith, followed by a panel of Providence professors. Featured speakers included Josh Reeves, Nyasha Gondora, and Keith Fox.

PROVIDENCE LEGACY FUND

The Providence Legacy Fund consists of two types of investments: endowments where the capital is invested in perpetuity and the earnings are used for particular projects or to support general operations, and trust funds where both the capital and its earnings are used over a specified time for a particular project. The Legacy Fund consists of funds held by Providence and by The Winnipeg Foundation, which combined at April 30, 2022, is $1,744,193.

PROVIDENCE GOLF CLASSIC

The 23rd Annual Providence Golf Classic took place on August 10, 2021 at Quarry Oaks Golf Course near Steinbach. More than 160 golfers registered and approximately $70,000 was raised. The tournament has been an important tradition for the Providence community to come together and support student scholarships.

VIRTUAL HARVEST FESTIVAL

Providence celebrated its annual Harvest Festival on October 21, 2021 virtually with many of our Providence community tuned into the 30-minute event using Facebook or YouTube. The program included hearing from four longtime staff and faculty members who have served at Providence for a combined 142 years.

DAY4PROV

The Providence community celebrated its 4th annual Day4Prov on Thursday, March 17, 2022, displaying their newest and oldest Providence shirts, hats, jerseys and more as they posted on social media about the difference Providence has made in their lives. A total of 70 gifts were given, raising more than $14,000.
