Mother’s Day – what a special day! It’s a day to celebrate mothers, motherhood and all the mother figures who enrich our lives. The journey of motherhood is an ongoing learning experience that I love sharing with my two children, Max and Ava.

The Story Behind Our Mother’s Day Campaign

Families are important – Provincial Home Living is a family-owned and run business, and we embrace all our staff as members of our family.

In this Mother’s Day catalogue, as a tribute to mothers everywhere, we’d like to introduce you to some of the remarkable mothers who are integral parts of our Provincial family.

We had the privilege of sitting down with six incredible mums from Provincial to gain insight into their lives as mothers, learn about their families, and discover how they plan to spend Mother’s Day. During our conversations, we captured some beautiful moments between them – moments that they will undoubtedly cherish forever.

This Mother’s Day, let’s take the time to honour and indulge the amazing women in our lives. We would be lost without the love and guidance of our mums and the mother figures who have played significant roles in shaping who we are today.

Karen, Kate, Sadie and Olive

Creativity runs in this family - Karen is one of our clever Visual Merchandising team members keeping our stores looking inspirational and her daughter Kate is an Interior Designer working in our Design Studio, helping people turn houses into their dream homes. Third generation, Sadie and Olive have already appeared in some of our catalogues – hopefully they will follow in the family’s creative footsteps.

How do you plan on spending Mother’s Day this year?

Karen: This Mother’s Day, I’ll be surrounded by my girls and grandchildren loving every moment with lots of hugs.

Kate: Spending the morning tucked up in bed with my daughters. Embracing some much needed R&R.

What has motherhood taught you?

Kate: Motherhood has taught me to be patient, to be more empathetic and to love unconditionally.

What are three words to describe your Mum?

Kate: Courageous, loyal and incredibly kind.

“I’m going to spend Mother’s Day surrounded by my girls and grandchildren loving every moment with lots of hugs.” – Karen

What is your favourite memory of your Mum?

Kate: The moment she met my daughters for the first time. Her overwhelming love for them was beautiful to see.

What is the best piece of advice your mother has given you?

Kate: That time doesn’t stand still, to make the most of every day.

“Motherhood has taught me strength and also infinite love.” – Karen

What are the most rewarding moments of being a Mum?

Karen: Watching my girls become mothers with their own children with such pride.

Kate: Seeing my daughters happy, smiling and laughing is by far the most rewarding moment for me as a mum.

What are you hoping to receive this Mother’s Day?

Karen: Absolutely anything from our bed linen range!

Kate: I hope to receive the Antwerp linen quilt cover and matching pillowcases in cloud. The linen is wonderful to sleep on and the addition of cloud will complete my bed linen set.

Sarah and Tommy

Sarah holds the demanding position of Head of Marketing, which keeps her occupied with many responsibilities. Her life got even busier in July last year when her son, Tommy, was born. Sarah has always been good at multitasking and is now relying on that ability to manage her professional and personal life simultaneously. She is working hard to keep everything in balance both at work and home.

How do you plan on spending Mother’s Day this year?

My first Mother’s Day will be spent feeling thankful for all that I have experienced, learnt, and enjoyed in these wonderful few months.

What has motherhood taught you?

The power of unconditional love, time flies and that learning to eat solids is stressfully messy!

What are the most rewarding moments of being a Mum?

Each and every smile makes every sleepless night worth it.

What are you hoping to receive this Mother’s Day and why?

We seem to be entertaining a lot more at home since Tommy was born which is lovely, so a new complete set of dinnerware would be oh so perfect!

Natalie, Wade, Tate and Tess

Natalie has the challenging role of Head of Retail and is a busy Mum to a son and two daughters. No matter how busy she is she always makes time for everyone, and her children really appreciate that quality in her…as do all her friends and work colleagues.

How do you plan on spending Mother’s Day this year?

Nat: Enjoying the day with my family, which normally includes food around a table with family and my Mum and Mother In Law. I might even get the whole family to do a Yin Yoga session.

What has motherhood taught you?

Nat: Patience, empathy and pride.

What are the most rewarding moments of being a Mum?

Nat: Everything, it is my greatest achievement. Actively nurturing them through infancy to young adulthood includes many milestones and rewarding moments. It’s a journey that transcends luck and fulfillment beyond measure.

What are you hoping to receive this Mother’s Day and why?

Nat: Do I have to stop at one product? I am redecorating our master bedroom so would love the Swansea daybed to make it complete.

“I always appreciate the huge amount of effort she has of always being there for me. She’s my favourite person in the world.” – Tess

What are three words to describe your Mum?

Tess: Mum is powerful, admirable and beautiful.

Wade: She is strong, inspiring and loving.

What do you admire most about your Mum?

Wade: Mum consistently shows up for the people she loves no matter the day or circumstance, a lot of people live life through their own personal agendas but Mum truly makes the time and effort to support the people around her.

What is the best piece of advice your mother has given you?

Tess: I have always received the best of advice from my mum, with every issue I have she always seems to have the answer. But one that particularly stuck out to me and forever will, is not to focus on the past and to be stuck on what has happened, but to pull your attention towards yourself and your future. Because the people who centre their life around the past, have shown that their life can be regretful and displeased. So always focus on the future, and know that I am worth everything that I set myself for.

Janie and Molly

Provincial is in the DNA of both Janie and Molly. Janie started working for Provincial in our Essendon store, as a casual employee in 2016 and is now the Manager of our big, beautiful Ballarat store. She’s very capable and likeable – and has instilled the same sense of values and great work ethic in her daughter. Molly is always smiling as she helps the Visual Merchandising team and the Photographic stylist on shoots – she’s capable and adaptable –just like her Mum.

How do you plan on spending Mother’s Day this year?

Janie: Call my mum first to wish her a beautiful day and then share the day with my daughter Molly and son Jack.

What has motherhood taught you?

Janie: Care and time you give your children, shines back even more when they are adults.

What are the most rewarding moments of being a Mum?

Janie: Being part of their lives, being able to guide them through situations. Watching my children grow into the next phase of their lives.

What is your favourite memory of your Mum?

Molly: My favourite memory of my mum is from my 18 th birthday. She bought me my first real piece of jewellery and had it engraved with a beautiful message on the back of it.

I remembered feeling so loved and surprised because I wasn’t expecting anything like this so that is truly special for me.

What do you admire most about your Mum?

Molly: My mum is a constant support in all aspects of my life. She continually lifts me up and is my number one fan in all that I do.

I know I can always pick up the phone and talk to her and she will be there in any way that she can.

What is the best piece of advice your mother has given you?

Molly: The best piece of advice my mum has ever given me is to always stand up for myself even when it seems impossible. She is the strongest person I know and has always shown me how important it is to believe in what you love.

Suzana, Reece and Blake

Another long-standing member of the Provincial family is Suzana. She started her career with us at our Essendon store over 12 years ago and is in Retail Support based in our head office. Her naturally caring and supportive nature makes her perfect for her role in coaching and training at work but also for being the best mum to her two gorgeous sons.

What has motherhood taught you?

Suzana: Empathy, to see the world through other people’s eyes. Motherhood is perfectly imperfect and cherish the moments.

What are the most rewarding moments of being a Mum?

Suzana: To see my boys evolving, striving into their own successes and personalities.

What is your favourite memory of your Mum?

Reece: When mum surprised me and picked me up from school and we went to meet Gizmo, our new Maltese/Shitsu puppy.

What is the best piece of advice your mother has given you?

Blake: Follow your dreams.
