INTRODUCTION

NEED: 1.In 2020, the motorsport market valued at 4.8 billion USD which is predicted to cross the 9.5 billion USD mark by 2027 (to put things in perspective, the global cricket market value in 2020 is ~350 million USD). 2.Other than couple of months of race events by FIM and FIA, the other 10 months are mostly used for a) Track days for the general public b) Events hosted by various automobile manufacturers c) For testing, research and development of everyday use vehicles d) As a training facility by various motorsport schools e) Etc. We are lacking far behind in this area. To fill the existing void in our economy, culture, industry, employment, etc., we need a FIM Grade A Grand Prix Race Track.

INTRODUCTION: A Race track is usually considered as a facility for conducting races. However, racing and many different activities on a racetrack have a significant economic and cultural impact on micro and macro scales. To tap the economic, industrial, and cultural development, we need a FIM Grade A Grand Prix Race Track in India

AIM: The aim of this project is to provide a race track for motorsport events like Formula 1, MotoGP, Etc., providing a safe and purpose-built space for racing enthusiasts, finding hidden talent in people w.r.t. motorsport while being economically profitable. A global landmark created by combining knowledge of architecture and love for motorsport to push the boundaries of motorsport in hunt of the World Champions

Circuit of The Americas, locally known as COTA, is regarded as one of the top venues in the United States for motorsports and entertainment. A purpose built venue specifically for Formula 1 racing, COTA also provides fans and visitors with interactive programming and activities from regular tours and go kart racing to outdoor concerts in the summer and a Winter Wonderland holiday festival and more. Find out how to experience COTA for yourself during your visit to Austin, Texas. COTA can be found on 1,500 acres of Texas Hill Country, 15 miles southeast of downtown Austin. The 120,000 maximum capacity track was completed in 2012, and includes the racetrack, Germania Insurance Amphitheater, and the new Bold Stadium, home to Austin Bold FC and the Austin Gilgronis, completed in 2019.

Circuit of the Americas (COTA) is a Grade FIA-specification 5.514 km motor racing track and facilities located within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Austin, Texas. The facility is home to the Formula One United States Grand Prix, the IndyCar Classic, and the Motorcycle Grand Prix of the Americas, a round of the FIM Road Racing World Championship, as well a round of the Americas Rallycross Championship. It previously hosted the Australian V8 Supercars, the American Le Mans Series,[6] the Rolex Sports Car Series, the FIA World Endurance Championship, and the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. NASCAR began racing at the circuit in 2021. The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas is the first purpose-built facility for the Formula 1 Grand Prix ™ in the United States, designed by Austin-based Miró Rivera Architects and includes an Observation Tower, a Grand Plaza and Austin360 Amphitheatre, the Main Grandstand, ticketing buildings and concession areas, and 2 bridges going across the track.

CIRCUIT LAYOUT


On the north side of the Grand Plaza visitors can find concessions and retail areas + the Grandstand at Turn 15. This feature hosts a large lawn designed to accommodate different kinds of events throughout the whole year – e.g. soccer games and music festivals. Along with the Grandstand, there are the two pedestrian bridges that provide visitors with access to all other areas belonging to the Circuit complex. One of the bridges is designed to connect them to the track infield, and the other one can help them cross the whole track.

Originating from the Tower, the red steel tubes finish their ‘route’ by forming a canopy designed for yet another of the main features: the Austin360 Amphitheater. The canopy covers the stage of the theater, aimed to protect the space form the natural elements. It has seating capacity of 6, 761 and becomes the largest outdoor amphitheater in Central Texas with total capacity of 15, 000 people. Both the Observation Tower and Austin360 theatre are designed as a background setting for the Grand Plaza. Bordered by the racetrack on 3 sides, the 27-acre space is the center of public usage and experience. Part of the Plaza is a reflecting pool with total area of 16, 000 feet.

CASE STUDY

A focal point is the 251-feet Observation Tower and is a main feature. It is designed to attract with red steel tubes that cascade down by starting from the top, spilling down and spreading out. This semi-architectural/semi-decorative element is imaginative, playful and compliment with the essential functionality of the Tower.

OBSERVATION TOWER

There is a vivid correlation between the pool, Plaza, Amphitheater and Tower as all four elements are set consecutively in a linear mode which helps with visitors’ perception of the space and further experience. The landscaping of the Plaza is designed to evoke the main theme of speed, spirit and cars for the plaza is situated within the arc of the racing track, which makes the curve of the track a focal element visitors to draw their attention onto.

The Main Grandstand is located in front of the start and finish lines with views of Turn 1 and provides seating to over 9,000 spectators on three levels. The ground level houses offices and concessions, while the second floor contains amenities, including a 6,500 square-foot lounge and event space. The third floor hosts a second lounge and 29 private suites.

THE FIRST INDIAN GRAND PRIX WAS HELD AT THE BUDDH INTERNATIONAL CIRCUITON 30 OCTOBER 2011. IT WAS INITIALLY SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE IN DECEMBER 2011. HOWEVER, FOLLOWING SCHEDULING CONFLICTS WITH THE BAHRAIN GRAND PRIX AND ITS SUBSEQUENT CANCELLATION, THE RACE WAS RESCHEDULED TO OCTOBER. THE INAUGURAL RACE WAS WON BY RED BULL RACING'S SEBASTIAN VETTEL, WHO STARTED FROM POLE POSITION. HE ALSO SET THE FASTEST LAP AND THEREFORE RACE LAP RECORD THAT YEAR, WHICH STOOD FOR THE FOLLOWING TWO GRANDS PRIX.

INTRODUCTOIN: The buddh international circuit (BIC), with 16 corners, 3 straights and intense elevation changes, has emerged as one of the fastest and best racing circuit in the world. ABOUT THE SITE AT

EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE: Government wanted to build 3 race tracks in Maharashtra. For the same reason, Mr. Khushroo Dhunjibhoy, founder and owner of Nanoli Stud approached with their land and resources to build the racetrack at Nanoli. The site received approval and work started in 2018, it is being designed by UK based architecture firm Driven International with inputs from former F1 driver Karun Chandok
