Tony Morris led the field away by 7 minutes over last race winner Uphill who was teamed up with Lea and Cathie. ‘Block’ started the event a man down but ate into the middle markers’ 4 minutes advantage to make the catch 20km after the start. The now five man group set their sights on the outmarkers who were 3.30 minutes ahead at the Tatong turn. On the climb out of Moorngag the race was in three groups and all riders were in view of each other in the same straight. It took a consistent effort by the middle group to reel in the outmarkers and the two groups came together 12km

Pollard went to the front hoping to get the glory but it was fellow Albury resident and club president Ashley O’Farrell’s day. O’Farrell, who has been improving at every race, left his assault for line honours to perfection by taking the lead 60 metres from the line to hold all other riders at bay. Pollard had to settle on third place as he was passed metres from the line by fast finishing Davison. O’Farrell had been knocking on the door for a win for a long while and this break through became his first win with the Hume Vets. The gap by the backmarkers had been
