hristine Byrne who has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer wanted to give something back to the community for its ongoing support for her and her family and with help from the Corowa Community Cancer Network the idea for a celebration/awareness function for the community was born. What followed was a huge wave of offers of support. Friends and representatives from the CCCN, Corowa Council, RSL Club, Corowa Hospital, Volunteer Palliative Support workers, local businesses and the Amaranth Foundation discussed numerous before deciding to hold a Charity Dinner Dance. Christine said the aim of the Charity Dinner Dance evening is threefold. “Firstly it is to celebrate the vibrant Corowa community by getting together to share a meal and dance the evening away to live music,” she said. “Secondly, it will be informative – during the evening our guests will be treated to three
guest speakers. The committee has had great support from the Corowa community in forms of donations, ticket sales and enthusiasm. Tickets sales have been growing steadily, with many tables filling fast,” Christine said. “The overwhelming support from local businesses has left our committee members with a real sense of pride and hope.” The third aspect of the evening will be fundraising for our Corowa community. Tickets at $50 per head have been priced so that money can be raised for a specific health item, which will be used directly within the Corowa and district community.” There will also be several charity auctions and raffles and guests will be able to take home a bag full of goodies and information about the various health services that can be accessed within our area.
