room at the Tilbury Hotel in Sydney’s Woolloomooloo as a two man show and was an instant success. Since then it has toured London’s West End and a further two sold out Australian tours. The show is not a cut-andpaste biography of Lennon or an emulation of the original recordings. On stage, with shadows from the lighting lass Onion was created by Waters arrangement fluttering over his face as he and D’Arrietta back in January 1992 explores the essence of the man through with a 5 week run in a small cabaret song and spoken word, Waters becomes synonymous with Lennon. He shies away from imitating the artist, but so emotive is his performance, it lulls the audience into believing anything is possible. It's part concert and part biography thought it doesn’t seek to tell the full story of Lennon’s life. For the audience this is either an emotional trip down memory lane or a wonderful introduction to the life and times of one of the most fascinating icons of our time. With 31 songs

Forbidden Planet is fantastic fun
Navigation Officer Mary Harmer and roller skating robot Julie Denny belt out a musical number from Allegro Theatre Company’s latest production, Return to the Forbidden Planet.
What do you get when you cross Shakespeare, science fiction, roller skates and rock music?
T
he answer will be performed from November 4 at the Yarrawonga Town Hall when the Allegro Theatre Company presents Return to the Forbidden Planet, a musical written by Bob Carlton and based on Shakespeare’s The Tempest and the 1950s sci-fi film Forbidden Planet. English director Anne-Marie Greenway is asking audiences to fasten their seatbelts and set their ray guns to stun as they get ready for a cosmic adventure of meteoric proportions. “Come and join Captain Tempest and his fearless crew on their journey into hyperspace,” Anne-Marie said. “Packed full of red hot rock ‘n’ roll hits including Great Balls of Fire, Good Vibrations, Born to Be Wild and Gloria, this show will have you literally dancing in the aisles.” The plot follows the crew of a routing survey flight when the spaceship is drawn mysteriously to the planet D’Illyria where
mad scientist Doctor Prospero and his lovely daughter Miranda are marooned. “Throw in a lovesick cook, a silver roller skating robot and a cracking live band and you’ll have a fun evening out that is suitable for all the family and one that you will remember for a long time to come,” she said. Bookings open at the Yarrawonga Mulwala Visitor Information Centre on Tuesday, October 25 with tickets $25 for adults and $20 for concession. Please phone 57441989 or visit www.allegrotheatreco.com.au for more information.
