3 GOODTIMES

Spring, the time when kiddies thoughts turn to football finals, September school holidays and movies. Each year the term three break is traditionally jam-packed with new releases to provide the family with a few hours of holiday fun. 2011 is no different, so here is a quick look at some of the new releases destined for the big screen in coming weeks; Zookeeper (PG)

The animals at Franklin Park Zoo love their kindhearted caretaker Griffin Keyes (Kevin James), but unfortunately in search of romance he has decided to leave the zoo and find a more glamorous job. Not happy at the prospect of his departure the animals set about educating Griffin in the ways of the heart – animal style. Featuring the voices of Cher, Nick Noltes, Adam Sandler and Sylvester Stallone. Former Weddings, Parties, Anything singer Mick Thomas.

eddings Parties Anything released seven albums between 1987 and 1996, and enjoyed a number of hits including Father's Day and Monday's Experts, mixing bush ballads with rock'n'roll. Thomas embarked on a solo career after the demise of WPA in 1999and eventually settled with a new band 'The Sure Thing' which has been through many different lineups. City. Featuring Hank Azaria and Neil Patrick Harris this fun-family flick will have humming la, la, lala, la, la…all the way home.

The Smurfs (G)

For a new generation of Smurf fans this much-anticipated movie release comes to the big screen in 3D. Parents are likely to enjoy their own childhood flashbacks as The Smurfs, including Papa, Smurfette and all the usual suspects, do battle with the evil wizard Gargamel in none other than New York

This extremely successful franchise continues with the 3D offering Spy Kids 4. Jessica Alba plays the perfect wife, mother and semi-perfect step mother who just happens to be a retired secret agent. She is doing her best of focus on the daily battles of “normal” life when she is called back into action to save the world from the maniacal Timekeeper.

The Lion King (G)

If you’re feeling sentimental this Spring why not enjoy the re-released The Lion King on the big screen and in 3D. This much-loved Disney classic was originally released in 1994 and came with a great soundtrack including Circle of Life and Hakuna Matata. All these movies and more are starting in September at the Wangaratta Cinema Centre.
