GORDON DUNCAN BRIDGE REPAIR A contractor will be undertaking repair to the damaged handrails on Gordon Duncan Bridge on Minns Road after Easter and the work is anticipated to take 2 weeks – weather permitting. The bridge will not be closed to normal traffic, although some minor delays may be experienced. However, due to the nature of the work, one lane will be closed infrequently and it would be appreciated if wide farm machinery would refrain from using this route whilst work is in progress. FLOOD RECOVERY

Message from Moira Shire Mayor Councillor Alex Monk

Moira Shire Flood recovery news

The office has been strategically positioned in the township of Numurkah creating a centralised access and reference point for all individuals, businesses and agencies involved in the recovery process. The office will be fully operational later in April and will operate from 36 Melville Street, Numurkah. Flood Recovery Manager, David Booth, will head the recovery team, which will involve an administrative support officer, Moira Shire Council officers, a range of consultants and close liaison with key government and industry bodies . With the recovery now underway, I would like to take this opportunity to ask people affected by flooding to share their stories and photos. Collation of this data will play a critical role in the review process. Images play a powerful role in capturing and recording historical events. This rain event broke previous records; including the 1957, 1974, 1993 floods. Yarrawonga had the highest recorded rainfall in 135 years. To those of you who managed to capture the flood event on camera, I invite you to email two or three labelled pictures to floods12@moira.vic.gov. au . People are asked to reduce the individual photo size to one megabyte before emailing their photos. (Please note that submitted pictures will be kept by Moira Shire Council and may be shared with other agencies as part of the flood review.) I also encourage you to share your local observations of the flood event through words, for the same purpose. Your account of flood events can be emailed to floods12@moira.vic.gov.au or sent to Moira Shire Council, Flooding, P.O Box 578, Cobram 3643. While the journey ahead is a difficult one, I believe the sharing of our experiences forms an essential part of this journey. On behalf of Moira Shire Council I would like to commend the people of Moira for their resolve during this period. Cr Alex Monk Moira Shire Mayor
