SQUASH & RACQUETBALL Sparkies 2/6/142 Wednesday night Trades JackOfAll 2/6/121 competition.
Hammers 3/9/192 def Skiers 1/4/174 Gavin Williams was no match this week for Ethan Thorpe. Ethan won in straight sets. Anthony Hammond had an absolute enthralling battle against Xavier Dowling. It was touch and go all the way. Anthony pulled a few more tricks out of his bag than Xav and won the match in four. Lochy Stenhouse was just too good for Shirona Burns this week. Winning in three straight sets.
def
This was the first win of the season for the Sparkies. Tom Purtle and Lucas Jones won for the team in three sets each. Joel Thomas had a great match against Lisa Boyer Lisa won in three. Once Joel gets his ambidextrous strokes under control he may come out on top. Brian Lyons was toying with Nick purple this week he should have gone in there with a determined attempt to achieve minimal points for his team. Lucky for Nick, Brian is too polite! Trowels 3/11/193 def Strummers 1/3/132
Adrian Smith played outstanding squash against Steve Wilson this week. Steve didn’t even get a glance in the last game. Liam Vanroy and Brent Hiscoe had an awesome battle with each other this match could have gone either way. Liam’s superior fitness got him up in the fifth game. I don’t know if anything will stop this bloke. Amy Bye and Alyson Webster were having the tussle for Number 4 individual position. There was some general banter before the match on who needed to win and in what. Amy dug her teeth in. Brought out some mi-
raculous shots and bought the points home for herself taking the lead in the Number 4s. The Number three individuals couldn’t get any closer. This is proven each week with the fantastic display of squash. Brendan Nunn is in the lead 21, Anthony Hammond on 20 Xavier Dowling on 19 and Lisa Boyer on 17. This week we had a very experienced coach Brian Lyons taking our juniors on with some individual coaching. The results were seen in the first night when we had some great games come from our juniors. Brianna Laversa played
against Jessica Stenhouse. Brianna won this 20/18 Brianna then went on to play Caleb Cooper. Her shots continued to improve and she had an outstanding serve. Caleb battled hard to win but Brianna got the final shots 20/17 For any information regarding squash phone Vicki on 57432843. Juniors Tuesday Night competition 4.30 – 6.00pm. Tuesday Night Social Racquetball and Squash 7.00pm. Wednesday Night Trades Night 7.00pm. Court hire available any night of the week.
After Session 2 of the Vic Simultaneous Pairs the results were – 1st Jan and Tom Hackett 72.37%, 2nd Coral and Bill Pheasant 54.35%, 3rd David Ware and Harold Hollingsworth 53.78%, 4th Barbara Ross and Pat Cooke 52.99%, 5th Elaine Rowe and Jenny Tuttle 52.69%, 6th Barbara Martin and Marion Bott 52.30%, and 7th Ricky Buller and Helen Jones 49.80%. Our sympathy goes to Jim Weeding whose delightful wife Kate passed away last Sunday. Kate played for many years and although not able to play for the last couple
was fondly remembered by all club members. Our best wishes go to Maggie Brown who is celebrating her 80th birthday. Maggie is a formidable opponent and an excellent teacher of Bridge who regularly plays at Yarrawonga making the trip from Wangaratta. Happy birthday Maggie, we all hope you celebrate many more! Any visitor who would enjoy some very interesting hands of Bridge please phone Harold on 5744 1970, you will be made most welcome.

SNOOKER
ClubMulwala Snooker (The place to play Snooker) Jim Alexander Memorial Trophy results: In the first round of games Styles def Organ, Cooke def McKernan, Quinn def Hewish, and Debbie def Bassett. 2nd round frames: Thompson fought out a tough contest with Jackson to drag back his (I like this handicap) to score win; Jones put in his usual snooker tactics to send Powell on his way; Styles just too slick for Cooke again, and Debbie tried
BRIDGE CLUB
hard to hold her advantage over Quinn but just fell short in a close game. Semis: Jones still tacking the way he does so Thompson exits the contest, and Styles gives Quinn a good going over with a fine display of the game. Final: Not much between the two Jones’ (-2). Styles (+2) for Jones the elder had to use all his wits and cunning moves to overcome young gun Styles to win the game on
a score of Jones 60 Styles 28 – a top game to watch. Social Chook Night: 1st frames – Cooke def McKernan, Debbie def Powell, Ridley def Jackson. Frames 2 – Lang def Jones, Quinn def Organ, Cooke def Bassett, Ridley def Debbie. Semis: Quinn def Lang and Ridley def Cooke. Final: Quinn (-16) 98 def Ridley (-82) 58. The captain; good snooker.
