Wednesday 7th December 2011 www.corowa.nsw.gov.au PESTICIDE NOTIFICATION USE Corowa Shire Council wishes to advise that spraying of the following Noxious Weeds will take place on road reserves throughout the Shire from September 2011 to January 2012. St John’s Wort St Barnaby’s Thistle Blackberry Spiny Burr Grass

Sweet Briar Silverleaf Nightshade Coolatai Grass Horehound Prairie Ground Cherry Chilean Needle Grass

The chemicals to be used include Roundup, Brushoff and Agritone 750. General spraying along roadside shoulders using Roundup will be carried out during September 2011 to January 2012. For further information please contact Noxious Weed Inspector Pat Minogue on 0427 929597. NOXIOUS WEED ALERT – CHILEAN NEEDLE GRASS Chilean Needle Grass (nassella neesiana) is a Class 3 declared Noxious Weed in Corowa Shire. This noxious weed can have a devastating impact on agriculture if not treated appropriately. This weed is spread by the movement of seed on vehicles, machinery and equipment, particularly along roadsides in the Corowa Shire. Unfortunately, this weed has been identified in new areas throughout Corowa Shire. Identification of this weed as a young plant can be difficult. The best time to identify this weed is in Spring when it produces panicle seeds with a distinctive purple seed head with long light green stems. A plant is currently on display at the Corowa Shire Council offices or for further information refer to Council’s website www.corowa.nsw.gov.au or contact Patrick Minogue on 0427929597. WATER RESTRICTIONS Council has resolved to remove water restrictions within the Shire. However, as water is a limited resource, residents are asked to be prudent in their use of water. Visit Council’s website for further information including water saving tips. Alternatively contact Council’s Corowa office on (02) 60 33 8999.
