On Thursday, August 4 the students ventured to Wangaratta to compete in the Winter Zone Sports Carnival. The students participated in T-ball, Netball and Football against schools from Wangaratta and Benalla. In the T-ball, the students won 2 games and lost 2 games, finishing the day in a well-deserved second place. In the netball, Sacred Heart had two teams competing. Both teams played 5 games, with one team making it into the quarter finals. On the football field, the boys played five preliminary games before playing off in the final. The boys dominated in the lead up games kicking an amazing 62 goals while only conceding 2 goals. In the final, Sacred Heart and Yarrawonga P-12 played each other. After an even first half, Sacred Heart kicked away in the second half to win 6.5 to 1.3. The win sees them go on to compete in Regional trials
to be held in Benalla on Friday, August 12 against schools from Wodonga and Shepparton. On Friday, August 5 the students headed to Numurkah for the annual, ‘Lightning Premiership’. Schools from Yarrawonga competed against other schools from Numurkah, Cobram, Katandra, Strathmerton and Nathalia, with Softball, Netball and Football being the sports on offer. In the Softball, the students won 3 games and lost 3 games. Like the previous day, the netballers had two sides competing.
