A Midsummer's Night Dream.

Arts Radar brings us a new production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Director Eamon Flack has turned this great Shakespearean classic into a grand, decadent and sad celebration – a party unfolding on stage, shot through with karaoke ballads and comedy. With a cast of eight (and a half), new doublings and reordered scenes, this is A Midsummer Night’s Dream as it’s never been done before. It is an exploration of a hedonistic pursuit of love, pleasure and freedom – that comes at a cost. The seasons have gone awry, the grownups are in denial, and the young are randy with hope and despair. Suddenly, in the midst of overwhelming uncertainty, four young lovers take a mighty stab at happiness.

Dinner & Show package

For only $60 book in to one of our Dinner & Show packages for either Motherhood The Musical or Midsummer Night’s Dream. Select from two fantastic local venues, Watermarc or Intermezzo and enjoy! Local trio Woodlock Wind (Zac Walters, Bowen Purcell and Eze Walters) is one of the earliest performers to sign up for the Ski Club's Got Talent Show.

he band comprises Zac and Eze Walters and Bowen Purcell and was formed just three weeks ago. Natalie Barnes from the Ski Club said entries were well up on last year already with performers coming from a wide range of locations and offering a diverse mix

of performance styles. “We have entries from every age group and demographic, from the young 8 year olds up to the more mature age,” Natalie said. There are dancers, singers, soloists and duos, even a singing and dancing martial arts acrobatic group. The final of the talent show will also feature last year's winner Cheralyn Hill who is excited about performing two songs. It's not surprising there are so many entrants with top prizes up for grabs including $2,000 for first

prize, $750 for second and $500 for third. If you can sing, dance, tell a good joke or have some uncanny ability to entertain that only comes out at family gatherings, enter the Ski Club’s Got Talent now. Heats start September 4 but you have to be entered by September 1. For jump

rack The Code has been running since July 1 with draws every Thursday and Friday night and Sunday afternoon offering members a chance to win the $100,000. The promotion ends on August 28. On the day of the draws from 9am simply swipe your membership card in the club foyer swipe kiosk to get one entry or swipe your club membership card at the main bar each time you make a purchase. For every $3.00 spent you will receive an automatic generated entry. These entries will be automatically deposited into the barrel in the foyer of the Mulwala Water Ski Club. You can enter as many times as you want but will only be allowed two attempts at the vault per day if your membership number is drawn out. Remember you have to be present to win. If your membership number is drawn out you will be given four minutes to present your membership card. If you’re present you will then be given a chance to enter a five digit code into the vault for your chance to win the $100,000. If a member is not present at the time of a draw,

a redraw will be conducted until a total of ten members are found at each session. A list of previous code attempts is available from reception the next morning after each promotion night. The Thursday and Friday draws take place at 7.00pm (3 draws), 8.00pm (3 draws) and at 9.00pm (4 draws). Sunday draws will be at 5.00pm (3 draws), 6.00pm (3 draws) and 7.00pm (4 draws). Bonus attempts will be randomly given away. The barrel will be emptied at the end of each night. If the $100,000 is won there will not be any further draws or attempts at the vault. If the major prize is not won a finale night will be held at the Ski Club on August 28 at 8pm. Each member drawn during the promotional period that was present and had an attempt at the vault code will have a chance at winning in the second chance draw where three lucky members will be drawn. From Vegas to Mulwala George Solomon is not surprised about the ongoing popularity of the Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons sound throughout the world.

Good music is good entertainment anywhere in the world,” George told The Chronicle from Las Vegas last week. George is not only in the cast of Oh What A Night which comes to ClubMulwala on September 7 for a dinner show, he also wrote the revue which has been thrilling audiences in Las Vegas and is about to commence a three month tour of Australia at the end of August. “The director Michael Chapman came to me in August 2008 and said we should put together a tribute show. I love Frankie Valli's music and perform some of his songs in my one man show so he was a natural choice,” George said. George began performing professionally

at age fifteen and has won awards for stage and television performances. He has worked with the legends of entertainment including Motown founder Berry Gordy Jr, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross, Bill Cosby, Tina Turner, Stevie Wonder, Harry Connick Jr., Liza Minnelli and many others. His own exciting one-man variety show has received much critical acclaim and has delighted audiences world-wide (You can get a taste of George's energy and amazing vocal dexterity on YouTube). His vocal range is outstanding, ranging from the deepest of the Righteous Brothers to an amazing Diana Ross impersonation, Surprisingly he has never had training, just years of listening and mimicking his favourites on the radio as he grew up. The rest of the cast are equally experienced and talented, their resumes too long to fit into one article. “We cast the show in Vegas, we are all seasoned performers,” George said. “We don't do a biography of the group (like Jersey Boys), this is a true tribute with plenty of

It's a feel good show.” The group, which comprises George, Paul Holmquist (who is also the choreographer) Joe Conti, Brandon Albright and Rick Morgan, produce such a sensational sound some crowds have believed they are lip-syncing to a Four Seasons soundtrack. “We actually do two songs without music just to show the audience it is really us,” George said. While he has performed in most parts of the world this is his first extended visit to Australia and exotic sounding towns such as Yarrawonga

and Mulwala have him looking forward to the trip. “While I haven't performed in Australia I have performed for many Australians here in Vegas and they really know how to enjoy themselves. We are really looking forward to getting to ClubMulwala and putting on a great show and we always have a meet and greet afterwards so I am hoping to get to know a few more Australians as well,” George said. Oh What A Night will be a dinner show, tickets $55 for members, $65 for non members. For bookings contact ClubMulwala on 5744 2331. Book early to avoid disappointment.
