he season involves six plays, the centrepiece of which is currently receiving outstanding reviews in Brisbane, Fractions by Marcel Dorney, I Love You, Bro by Adam, J A Cass, Angela’s Kitchen by Paul Capsis, Moth by Declan Greene, The Flood by Jackie Smith and Zombatland by The Suitcase Royale. All performed at the Butter Factory Theatre, Wodonga. The first, Fractions, is a co-production between HotHouse and Queensland Theatre Company. In March (22-31) audiences will be taken back in time 1600 years, to a world about to catapult into the Dark Ages. It stars Jolene Anderson known to local audiences for her TV roles in Rush, All Saints and, of course, Play School. In May (29 – 2 June) HotHouse brings an incredible true story of a boy who conspired to murder himself. A world of cyber stalking made more shocking because this event actually happened. I Love You, Bro is unmissable, not only for the story, but for the award winning performance of Leon Cain. Versatile Australian cabaret singer and actor Paul Capsis – writer and performer of Angela’s Kitchen, will provide a compelling and deeply felt, autobiographical tribute to a matriarch. Paul is well known for his award winning roles in Head On, Rocky Horror Picture Show, and The Three Penny Opera to name but three. He’ll beguile you in seven performances during late June (26-30).

Moth is about the inner world of unpopular teenagers – outsiders – and is unforgettable. It’s also why it sold out at the Sydney Opera House and Melbourne’s Malthouse Theatre and why it has won multiple awards. It plays during August (7-11). The Flood has been described as a small masterpiece, haunting and electrifying. Spend an evening in August inside a dilapidated farmhouse as the floodwaters and tensions rise. Finally, in late October, a masterfully mad tale from an outback Aussie caravan park. Zombatland shows us what can happen when wombats get bloodthirsty. See what Europe is fussing over as this comedy, described as ‘like an inspired collaboration between Nick Cave and the League of Gentleman’ from October (23 - 27).
