SNOOKER

(The place to play Snooker)

Thompson and McKernan cued off first and with a 16 handicap Macca had the feeling of a win until Thommo fired up with some good pots and reading the game well pulled off a top win. John Powell caught Quinny and turned the game his way. Needless to say Quinn needs to lift his game. Cooke and Debbie always enjoy their contest but this time it went Cooke’s way. Jackson’s 36 start was always going to be tough to pull back as Organ found out, you need to make a 20 break to be back in the game. A neat buffer of 36 kept Lang in the comfort zone in an all the way win over Thompson. Semis: Cooke, putting his snookers to test Powell and stop his run of breaks was a mastermind ploy to hold on for a win. Lang had Jackson on the mat as Jacko seemed to be out of allsorts and no matter what cue he

Australian International Motor Show Event Director Russ Tyrie said the demand for space from exhibitors had exceeded the space available at the event’s previous location, the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre. “The response from exhibitors after the Sydney edition last year has seen the show grow to a point where it will be over 30 per cent larger in floor space this year,” Mr Tyrie said. “Our exhibitors want more space; they’re bringing more vehicles – and exciting vehicles too. “The show will also be larger than the last time a major motor show was held in Melbourne (in 2009).” “The good news is that a lot of the stars of the show appear to have a heavy focus on new tech-

nology – especially green technology such as alternative fuels. “A number of brands will also have new supercars and sports cars, with some showing off new design concepts.” While car brands don’t typically like to reveal too much prior to a motor show, this year a number have already let the cat out of the bag. “The chance to see hyper cars like the new Lamborghini for the very first time, or a concept car like Mazda’s Shinari concept is always a drawcard for motor shows.” The Australian International Motor Show is on at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, opening 6pm Friday, 1 July, and running through to Sunday, 10 July. Tickets are now available at www. motorshow.com.au. For all the latest news and updates on the 2011 Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne, follow @themotorshow on Twitter.
