MASONIC
Masonic Musings The Board of Benevolence of Freemasons Victoria has set aside $6000 to be competed for by area Lodges in what is known as a Charity Challenge which will take the form of a 10 minute presentation by each competing Lodge on their favourite local charity.
McDonald’s staffers Emma Slee, Bonnie Campbell with Wilby fireman Lyndon Hart and volunteer Eden Mackinnon get in the spirit of McHappy Day. ski deck
The Mulwala Water Ski Club deck is beginning to take shape and is due for completion by mid-December.
Prizes will be cash donations of $3000, $2000 and $1000 by the Board to the charity nominated by the competitor with officers from the Board of Benevolence adjudicating. This competition will take place at Shepparton RSL Club on Friday 25th November, 7pm for a 7.30pm start. About 9 Lodges will compete. We at St David have entered and have nominated Karana High Care Facility at Yarrawonga as our charity. Competition will be fierce but we will give this challenge our best shot. Members of the public are welcome to attend and it is considered essential that each competing Lodge has good member support and the support of their nominated charity. Those dining at the Club are urged to be early as it is a Friday night and the Shepparton RSL is a busy spot. After the Challenge a light supper will be available at a cost of $5 per head. Seating will be at tables of ten and advance notice of attendance is desirable. Our contact persons are Les Fraser, 5743 1341 or Barry Cocks 5743 2892. It is unfortunate that this Charity Challenge clashes
with the White Ribbon night to be held at the Ski Club on 25th November. We strongly support the White Ribbon concept, and will have some representation at that event, but we are committed to the Charity Challenge, and our Executive and their ladies will be travelling to Shepparton and, hopefully, returning with bags of cash for Karana. We recently received an email from a young Craftsman who has moved from Darwin to Yarrawonga and who has been following our Musings. Secretary Les Fraser has replied and would very much like to meet this young chap and welcome him to our area. When one moves from one jurisdiction to another the way is open to him to join the new jurisdiction with very little red tape involved. Last month we welcomed Frank Smeaton from the South Australian jurisdiction, which also covers the Northern Territory, and feel sure that he will have a long and fruitful association with the Yarrawonga Lodge of St. David. We did note that when he was short of cash to cover his shout at the Golf Club recently Frank borrowed $100 from his wife to cover his shortage. The Scots are like that. Cheers Stan Clarke IPM103
