S

All you need are The Melbeats The Melbeats will take you on a Magical Mystery Tour spanning the entire Beatles career when they perform at the Mulwala Water Ski Club on May 12.

T

hey will perform all the classic songs from the early hysteria of the Beatlemania period, right through the heady mid 60s and the Psychedelic Sgt Pepper’s era, up to their untimely break-up in 1970. Using authentic Beatles instruments and Vox amps The Melbeats can reproduce the songs as close to the records as possible. The Melbeats also recreate the distinct look of The Beatles with costume changes for each set. Starting with black suits, skinny 1960’s ties and those famous “Winkle Picker” Beatle boots, the first set covers the years 1963 to 1964.
The second set features the band performing in black turtleneck skivvies, as worn around 1965 to 1966, arguably The Beatles most creative era.

The final set sees The Melbeats transform into Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band! The colourful costumes as seen on the most famous album cover ever, have been faithfully reproduced to relive the songs from 1967 to 1970. Scott McCarthy (as John Lennon), Ben King (as Paul McCartney), Michael Burke (as George Harrison) and Lee Dryden (as Ringo Starr) are The Melbeats and they are coming soon to the Mulwala water Ski Club. They hope you will enjoy the show.

he hole-in-one golf competition is part of a “Flood Recovery Night” at the Mulwala Water Ski Club lagoon to help raise funds for the Yarrawonga and Surrounds Community Emergency Relief Fund (YSCEF). Ski Club Assistant Manager Chris said the evening was essentially created from an idea of Rod “Rocket” Hammond. “It’s a unique concept and all the funds raised will be going towards a good cause,” he said. Mr Pearn said $800 had already been raised with Clubmulwala, Yarrawonga Golf Club

Resort and the Ski Club all donating $150 each along with some other donations from various local businesses. The evening will include a free jumping castle, a sausage sizzle and drinks will also be available. The $450 “hole-in-one” prize will be shared if there is more than winner and if there are no winners the $450 will go to the emergency fund. Entry is $10 for 3 balls with tee off at dusk. Donations to the YSCEF can also be made at the Central Murray Credit Union.
