In this market we see different Buyers and sellers exhibiting differing characteristics. Most Buyers and Sellers are naturally cautious. They know the goal posts have shifted. Values once assumed can no longer be achieved. Buyers, once accustomed to competition from others now find the market less competitive. The old certainties, the old confidence is no longer there. But the committed Seller, properly priced and properly marketed still finds a buyer be it now, it takes a little longer. Good Buyers are commenting on the lack of quality stock. Vendors are thinking it’s all too hard and it’s better to be out of the market. The reverse is true – It’s a Great Time To sell!!

Interagency cooperation continues Victorian Fire Services Commissioner, Craig Lapsley, joined Acting Assistant Commissioner for Police, Alan Byrne, along with senior members of DSE/Parks Victoria, CFA, Vic SES and NSW Rural Fire Service, at the prefire season Joint Agencies Emergency Exercise (JAEE 2011) in Tungamah on Sunday, October 16.

Now in its seventh year, JAEE addresses many of the recommendations arising from the Bushfire Royal Commission into the Black Saturday (Feb 2009) fires. Given the forecast for higher than normal grassland fire activity, this year’s event took on high significance in ensuring local emergency services are prepared and ready to respond to the threat of fast moving grass fires in the north of Victoria and southern NSW. As in previous years, CFA, Parks Victoria (DSE), SES, Victoria Police, Ambulance Victoria, and Moira Shire attend-

Strike teams were briefed prior to deployment and responded to a variety of scenarios, before re-assembling for short demonstrations, static displays, debriefing and lunch. The committee is extremely grateful for the support these companies have shown to JAEE in running the event. Event chairperson, Deputy group officer Jeff Nunn said he was “stoked” to see crews and equipment from as far away as Eldorado to the east, Lurg and Tatong to the south as well as six tankers from NSW including Barooga, Berrigan and Buraja, “The local organising committee has again done a wonderful job once again planning and implementing this event which continues to grow from its humble beginnings seven years ago

with only six tankers,” Jeff said. “Probably the most pleasing part was that we have know developed over time an excellent working relationship with all our sister emergency agencies including CFA, DSE/Parks Vic, VicPol, Ambulance Vic, SES, NSW RFS, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW National Parks as well as Moria shire personnel.”
