Wednesday Night Tradies competition Awesomes 3/13/310 defeated Legends 2/11/277 Nicole Stenhouse defeated Steve Smith only just this week. Every week the number ones have close five setters and this week they had a great battle. Nicole took the lead in the first two games with some great rallies. Nicole was on top of the ball producing some great forehand drives. Steve came back fighting and in the next two he put out some great returns. It was a marathon! The last game was anyone’s and Nicole was lucky enough to reap the rewards. Tom Purtle played an immense game against Brent Hiscoe winning in five sets. Sheepy peaked way too early. He went in hard and fast and won the first two games and he had nothing left for the third game. Sheepy almost got zipped in this game but thankfully Tom made one mistake. Tom’s serves had the speed and went straight into the back corner which helped him to win the match. Shirona Burns was very happy with her self this week, she didn’t take the chocolates home but she got a game from Alyson Webster which was just as rewarding. Whipper Wise 3/10/193 defeated Ball Slappers 2/6/194 Trevor Bailey had the upperhand against Gavin Williams before they got on the court this week. Gavin couldn’t keep his mind on the game, only his lovely wife. So Trevor took full advantage of this in the first game and came in hard and took the game 15/5. Gavin came back fleetingly and won the second. Dinner was all that was left and Trevor won the match in 4. Nick Purtle had a mighty win against Andrew McPherson. He had total control of the match for the first two games. Andrew took back the control in the third but Nick’s great forehand drives and quick thinking stole the match in 3 games. Roxi Marrett beat Josh Ormand in 3 games this week. Roxi

has proven herself to be a great player in the number 5s. She has great powerful shots and an inspiring serve. Alyson, Amy and Roxi are in fierce competition for the individual 5s spot. Gordan’s Heroes 3/10/177 defeated Black Cavier 2/7/202 Amy Bye defeated Lochy Stenhouse in 3 straight games. They had some great rallies which included some inspiring shots. Tony Corso was very happy this week that he defeated Josh Landells in 3 straight games. Tony was on top of his game and didn’t let Josh in at all. It was a great win. Junior Squash is half way through the round robin stage. The improvement and dedication of the juniors every week is a pleasure to watch and coach. They are all doing a great job. Nick Soutter had a win against Frank Martin. Frank tried with everything to give Nick a great match. They had a few very close rallies. Nick won 22/11. Shivaun Chibnall nearly caught Brianna Purtle this week. She has improved strength and is really thinking about her placement. Brianna won 13/12. Nick is ecstatic he won against Lochy Stenhouse 15/14. This was a fantastic game to watch. It was point for point all the way. Nick came home with a fantastic boast and this won the game for him. There will be some intense coaching lessons after the school holidays and then back into finish the round robin. For any information regarding squash phone Vicki on 57432843.
