LOTT, Jeffrey (Lotty). 24-12-2009. One year has gone, still miss you and wish there was some way we could bring you back to us. Will love you forever. Your loving wife Wilma and stepchildren Lisa, Michelle and William.

LOTT, Jeffrey Sydney “Lotty” 13.02.1947 24.12.2009. Hey big brother, what a year it has been. How the time has flown, it seems like just yesterday when we brought you home, you were here with us one minute and the next you were gone. We have cried rivers that have now turned to streams. The pain excruciating, too much to bear, so angels came and took Mum and George into their care. Your journey was awesome but is not yet complete. The finality of our family together and at peace. The Lott Family and name are now laid to rest. The end of an era, our memories of you the best, the good, the bad and the ugly will always be with us forever but it will never take away the heartache and pain that still remains with us. I am extremely blessed to have had your as My Big Brother and to have been part of your life. Catcha later at the lake, I’ll bring a slab of Coke. Loving Sis Denise and Brother in law Neville. Forever in our hearts and never ever forgotten.

Sale of land and use of reclaimed water near Tungamah North East Water is implementing a new sewerage scheme for the township of Tungamah, which is planned for completion in 2012/13. As part of the project, North East Water is planning to construct a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) that will produce reclaimed water suitable for irrigation. North East Water is seeking expressions of interest for the use of reclaimed water and potential sale of land for WWTP construction. Approximately 15-20 megalitres of water will be produced per year once existing properties have connected to the sewerage scheme (over 5 years). The volume of reclaimed water available will vary depending on climatic conditions. The reclaimed water is suitable for a range of agricultural uses including agricultural production during the irrigation season. Soils need to be suited to irrigation with reclaimed water, and ideally land will be located close to, if not adjacent to, the new WWTP site. Approximately 3 hectares of land will be required for the WWTP site including the irrigation storage dam (winter storage dam). Expressions of Interest North East Water invite expressions of interest for: 1. The sale of suitable land to North East Water for the wastewater treatment plant; 2. The use of the reclaimed water on private land. Interested parties are invited to initially register their interest. Registered parties will then be sent an information pack, which will detail the evaluation process and criteria, a pro-forma for formal proposal submissions and other relevant information. The information pack will provide information for registered parties to confirm their interest and formally submit a proposal to the Corporation, which will be evaluated in accordance with criteria outlined in the information pack to shortlist potential options. Shortlisted options will be evaluated further to identify the preferred option. Interested parties are invited to register their interest by contacting Dominic Kerr on 1300 361 622. Alternatively, written submissions are to be marked as “Tungamah reclaimed water EOI registration” and sent to: Mr Dominic Kerr, North East Water, PO Box 863, Wodonga 3689 Registrations for Expressions of Interest are due by Thursday 23rd December 2010. WATER SAFETY

Know your surroundings and your signs By Fiona Blick

There were 38 drowning deaths in Victoria last year and Life Saving Victoria is urging all Victorians to play it safe by the water this summer.

Approved hand signals from the Victorian Recreational Boating Safety handbook.

Life Saving Victoria General Manager, Guy Britt, is concerned that after many years of drought, recent floods and heavy rainfalls will cause inland waterways to change dramatically, increasing the risk of injury. “Look before you leap,” Mr Britt said. “Submerged objects like branches or rocks are often invisible from above the surface and present a

real risk of neck and spinal injuries. “ Mr Britt said it is not just the beaches and pools, but rivers, lakes, dams and inland streams that can prove dangerous to adults and toddlers. “The flat, still surface of an inland waterway can give a false sense of security and people should know their surroundings before entering the water,” he said. Life Saving Victoria is also asking boat users to update themselves with the latest rules and regulations on inland waterways. Waterskiing is a popular recreational boating activity enjoyed along the Murray River and in Lake Mulwala.

Vessels engaged in waterskiing often travel at high speeds and Mr Britt said all vessel operators should acquaint themselves with any local operating rules. These rules are generally displayed on noticeboards at strategic points along inland waterways. In particular, boat operators should note that – Any vessel towing a person/s must have an observer who is at least 12 years of age (in NSW waters, including the Murray River, an observer of at least 16 years of age is required), A maximum of three persons only can be towed at any one time,

Towing is only permitted in the period from one hour before sunrise and to one hour after sunset, A person being towed is required to wear an approved PFD at all times, Once back in the vessel, the person being towed must wear the appropriate PFD for that vessel, Speed and distance restrictions apply to anyone being towed as well as to the vessel towing, Any vessel towing a person/s must have the carrying capacity for the operator, observer and Sarah Grace, Michael O’Toole and Maryanne Sonthe number of persons nemann from Life Saving Victoria visited Yarrawonga being towed. recently to spread the Life Saving Safety message.

Water Matters... WATER RESTRICTIONS

Council has resolved to remove water restrictions within the Shire. However, as water is a limited resource, residents are asked to be prudent in their use of water. Visit Council’s website for further information including water saving tips. Alternatively contact Council’s Corowa office on (02) 60 33 8999.

MOWING OF NATURE STRIPS Council requests residents, when mowing nature strips take care to ensure that cut grass is not blown out into the gutters and onto the road. These clippings can cause blockages to the stormwater systems over a period of time and reduce the effectiveness of street sweeping operations.
