NOXIOUS WEED CONTROL Landowners and managers are reminded that due to significant rainfall and warm weather conditions, noxious weed growth will rapidly develop. Declared noxious weeds that are currently being spot sprayed in Corowa Shire are: Spiny Burr Grass, St Barnaby’s Thistle, Sweet Briar, Bathurst Burr, St John’s Wart and Horehound. Council requests that landowners and managers check their properties regularly for any noxious weeds and take appropriate action which may involve spot spraying. For further information, please contact Pat Minogue on 0427 929597. COROWA SHIRE EMPLOYEE ABUSE BY THE GENERAL PUBLIC Council is concerned there have been a number of instances where Council employees undertaking their employment responsibilities have been abused by the general public. Council requests that the public refrain from taking these actions as employees are only carrying out their duties and are entitled to respect when working in a public place. POLICY & RESOURCE COMMITTEE A meeting of Council’s Policy and Resource Committee will be held in the Council Chambers Corowa on Monday, 7 March 2011 commencing at 4.00 p.m. SLASHING OF VACANT BLOCKS Recent warm weather has seen a number of vacant blocks become overgrown with grass. Council requests owners to take action to mow/slash these blocks. Council will be inspecting vacant blocks and notices will be issued to persons not taking action to remove this potential fire hazard. MOWING OF NATURE STRIPS Council requests residents, when mowing nature strips take care to ensure that cut grass is not blown out into the gutters and onto the road. These clippings can cause blockages to the stormwater systems over a period of time and reduce the effectiveness of street sweeping operations. VANDALISM Vandalism destroys community property. The destruction of community property costs ratepayers thousands of dollars annually. If you see acts of vandalism please report these actions to your local Police phone 02 60331144 (Corowa), 02 60265344 (Howlong), 03 57438099 (Mulwala) or Council on 02 60338999. FOR A BETTER COMMUNITY, REPORT AND PREVENT VANDALISM.
