KERNOT, Donald “Don”. 12/9/1941 - 15/8/2011. To our dear Dad. We all miss you so much already. Your silly messages on our phones and your Dad jokes. Who will we ring now when we need to know how something works or how to fix something that is broken - whether that be our cars or our hearts? We’re so glad you’re finally with Mum and that you won’t ever be separated again. So much love from Jacqui and Craig, Nicky and Steve, Jimmy and Melinda, Sienna, Tiani, Zaia, Jai, Astariah, Matilda and Number Seven. KERNOT, Don. When I get where I’m going on the far side of the sky. The first thing I’m gonna do is spread my wings and fly. Then I’ll walk alongside Don, and he’ll match me step for step, and I’ll tell him how we missed him every minute since he left. GOLF NOTES Droop, Davis, Moore and Slattery scramble a win while Martin aces. Firstly, congratulations to Jay-Ar Martin for his hole-in-one on the 7th of the Lake course. The Annual Pigdon’s Holden Scramble competition was run on Sunday and the winners were the group of Frazer Droop off 3, Mitch Davis off 4, and Jake Moore off 15 and Branton Slattery off 21. All of these boys are juniors and are under the tutelage of one Robert Walter Charles Castles esquire. The boys came in with a brilliant 10 under par off the stick and with their handicap of 5⅜ths ended with a nett score of 56⅝ths. The runners up were the team of Rodney Lea off 7, Wayne McLennan off 10, Wayne Olcorn off 20 and Peter Owen off 21 with 8 under par off the stick and a nett 56¾. Third place was taken out by Matt Davis off 18, Kirri Davis off 8, Andrew Long off 4 and Matt Lidgerwood off 26 with 8 under par off the stick with a nett 57. Nearest the pin recipients were Mark Hargreaves, Beth Daniel, Bob Kruger, Matt Daniel and Andrew Long. The longest drive win-

ners were that ball of rippling muscle Andrew (pup) Mott and Damien O’Brien. Tuesday’s 4BBB Stableford event on the Murray course was taken out by Pete Warner off 5 and Ross Nichols off 18 with a staggering 51 points from Peter Ferguson off 20 and Bob Birmingham off 19 with 47 points. son Cup was held on Wednesday, August 17 in what can only be described as atrocious conditions. The finalists, Robyn Moore/Olive Ryan and Anna Castles/ Elaine Bellis had to contend with heavy rain and cold blustery wind that sent buggies and umbrellas flying as well as making the players very wet. The match went to the 18th hole before a final result was achieved with the team of Anna Castles and Elaine Bellis winning the trophy. Mrs Audrey Wilkinson in presenting the prizes congratulated all four players for playing in such weather and said that in her opinion they were world beaters in showing such commitment playing under those conditions. As this was the 40th presentation of the Wilkinson Cup, as well as the trophies, Mrs Wilkinson presented the winners with a ruby glass each. Border Golf ladies are most appreciative of Mrs Wilkinson’s continued sponsorship of this prestigious event. Twenty other ladies were also brave enough to venture out into these conditions to play golf. The list is now out for names for the Cobram visit to our club on August 31 and as requested last week, if you can help

with providing a sweet or slice for the Rosebowl on 26th August, please advise so on the list in the Ladies Locker Room foyer. Entry forms are now also available at the Pro Shop for the forthcoming September Tournament. Results: Wed.
