Silverwoods speed limit assessed By Fiona Blick The speed limit on the Murray Valley Highway past Silverwoods will be reassessed following a recommendation by Councillor Peter Mansfield at last month’s Moira Shire meeting. Cr Mansfield asked council to write to VicRoads requesting the extension of the 80km/h speed zone to include the entry to Silverwoods. “This will become a major intersection along the Murray Valley Highway as Silverwoods continues to develop and the speed limit needs to

be adjusted accordingly, lowered from 100km/h to 80km/h,” Cr Mansfield said. Cr Jessie McCallum asked Cr Mansfield to extend out the 80km/h area to include Buchanan’s Road, the eastern border of Woodlands estate, however Cr Mansfield denied this request. “VicRoads may indeed extend the 80km/h zone out to Buchanan’s Road but we should just start with Silverwoods Boulevard,” he said. The vote was seven to two in favour, with Crs Monk and McCallum voting against the speed zone alteration request.
