PUBLIC NOTICES

The Mulwala facility is a Commonwealth owned, Thales operated facility, primarily manufacturing propellants and explosives for the Australian Defence Force. This notice aims to inform the local Mulwala community on the Thales Australia Mulwala Major Hazard Facility and what the community should do in the extremely unlikely event of a major accident at the facility. While the risks to the community have not changed, in fact they are being constantly reduced, new legislation requires facilities such as Mulwala to ensure the local community are provided adequate information to react appropriately in the extremely unlikely event of a major accident.

Parks Victoria advises...

Every effort is taken by Thales to ensure such events do not occur and in the unlikely event such an event occurs, Thales and the local emergency services have extensive plans in place to minimise any effects to the local community.

Firewood collection season for proposed Murray River Park and Shepparton Regional Park

In almost all circumstances you should never need to do anything in the event of an emergency, as it will be controlled by the emergency services and factory personnel. During the month of April some residents living close to the factory will receive a “what to do in an emergency” leaflet in the mail. This leaflet details the process to follow in the event of an emergency.

Firewood collection will be available for residents from designated areas, Cobram East, in the proposed Murray River Park and Youngs Bend in the Shepparton Regional Park from Saturday 30 April 2011 until Sunday 28 August 2011. Collection will be subject to fire danger ratings, wet weather, firewood supply availability and safe access to tracks and forest. Permits for the firewood season, including a map showing the collection locations, are available during business hours from:
