A shortfall in the backmarkers forced a combining of two groups which gave the sole limit rider a 33 minute head start. The 9 min group had the 14 minute group in their sights but all hopes of crossing were dashed when the 14 bridged to the 18 min group at the 36 km marker. The combined group reeled in the limit rider

just before the start of the second and smaller flat loop around Emu Creek and at that marker held a handy lead over the chasers with 12kms to go. The scratch pairing finally caught ‘block’ two kilometres from the finish line as the six leaders were about to cross the finish line. The tail wind finish aided the tired cold bodies with all six riders looking to score a victory. Bernie Grealy led out from the 200 metre marker closely followed by Myles but it was O’Brien that took the lead on the line to

ClubMulwala Snooker (The place to play

snooker) Mon. July 18 – Open Singles results: Cooke was on top early then Thompson made a push with some good breaks but could not bridge the gap as Cooke powered away; Quinn was in for a tough contest against young gun Styles but soon proved who was boss; Bassett got back into his rhythm and it was all over for Hewish, and Jones did his usual snookers to have Lang on this way. Rnd 2: Jackson, with his handicap, was a worry for Debbie and could not make ground; Powell and Organ put on a good show but Powell had the better result; Cooke was on a roll and Quinn rolled over, and Jones did well to outlast Bassett in a tense affair. Semi 1: Jackson won well against Powell and some unnerving banter as Cooke did the job on Jones in a pink ball win. Final: Jackson led with a 10 point handicap start but was pulled back very quickly as Cooke potted some good pots with

Debbie Harbrow. some errors here and there, but it got back to a black ball game and with a nice angle shot from Cooke – game over. Social Night: Sam Macheda did Cooke on the black; Lang was playing well and had Organ back on the chair; Quinn outlasted Shirley Ridley throughout a tight game, and Debbie pulled off the upset win of the night against the power of Powell. It was payback time for Bassett who was fired up to win this one over Jones since the last encounter, and Lang had

Sam putting her cue back in the rack. Semi 1: Well, what a great win this one was for Debbie, Quinny bowed out after a few mishits, and Lang does Bassett to go into the final. Final: It had been a topsy turfy night of snooker with the higher ranked players going down to the lower rank leaving two, Debbie and Lang, to decide the contest in a game with both in good form and, it went down to the wire, with Debbie clinching it. The Captain.

Magnificent 7 average 20 per dart An amazing effort from seven A graders this week with an average of 20 per dart or better, but Rob Laffan and Ant Cryer left nothing at home with 35 and 36 darts respectively for 2 legs of darts each giving them a dart average of nearly 30 per dart.

Rob Laffan scored a 180 in the same leg that only took 13 darts, this is the stuff you see on TV, and Ant Cryer fresh off his Singles Championship win seems to be still in good form, keep it up boys.

The Pelicans look to have taken off were they landed last season with a solid win over the faculty. Jennine Cheeseman was one dart off a 180 in her winning third singles leg scoring a 125. She also pegged out her doubles game which were the only two games they won. And if you’re going to throw one ton only, it may as well be at the end of a leg, Gary Bausch with a solitary 108 peg to take a win in the singles, nice.
