GRANTS AVAILABLE TO COMMUNITY GROUPS Corowa Shire Council invites community groups and organisations to apply for Small Grants of up to $3000 to assist in the development of programs or activities that address community needs and focus on community development, developing partnerships and improve the quality of life and wellbeing of the people in the Corowa Shire community The primary objectives of the Community Grants Program are to improve community services, facilities and resources in the Shire, maximise access and usage of existing resources and services, encourage and stimulate the development of effective community programs and promote and improve community networks and partnerships. GORDON DUNCAN BRIDGE REPAIR A contractor will be undertaking repair to the damaged handrails on Gordon Duncan Bridge on Minns Road after Easter and the work is anticipated to take 2 weeks – weather permitting. The bridge will not be closed to normal traffic, although some minor delays may be experienced. However, due to the nature of the work, one lane will be closed infrequently and it would be appreciated if wide farm machinery would refrain from using this route whilst work is in progress. Funding is from Category 1 under the Scheme with the following projects qualifying:• Community welfare and social services • Community development • Community health services • Employment assistance activities. Groups operating in Victoria may apply for funding assistance if they are able to demonstrate a service is being provided to NSW residents. Applications should be made on a formal application which can be obtained from the Corowa Shire Civic Centre, Mulwala Civic Centre and Howlong Community Resource Centre and participating Clubs or from the ClubsNSW website www.clubsnsw.com.au These applications should be forwarded to the General Manager, Corowa Shire Council, PO Box 77, Corowa 2646 by 4.00 pm on Thursday, 31 May 2012.
