James won skips, Margaret Isherwood 2nds, and Audrey Earley lead. This was followed by a sausage sizzle and some lovely slices which were made by Cathy Spinks. The husband and wife combination of Lois and Bob Fiddes were the winners of Friday’s 2x4x2, R/ up: Don Rooks and Jim Clancy. The Jackpot was won by Judy Green and Elaine Langley - two weeks in a row. Don’t forget this week’s game starts at 10am due to Edinburgh Shield being played this weekend. The Handicap Pairs will now be played on April 12. Condolences to Tony Durkin on the sad loss of his wife Trish.

Maddigan Bowls This happy and enthusiastic group of bowlers were all smiles when they took to the greens at Yarrawonga & Border Golf Club for the Les and Val Maddigan Day recently.
The Sticks format played ensured all players were mixed into different fours over three games no matter what their bowling
standard which gave them the opportunity to meet and mix with different bowlers during the course of the afternoon. The day was a great success and the Border Golf Bowling clubs thank the sponsors Les and Val Maddigan for their generosity and efforts in instigating the annual fun day five years ago.
Border Golf Men’s Bowls Our gallant B3 Pennant final team on Saturday at Wangaratta put in their best gutsy effort against Rutherglen but could not peg back a 10 shot deficit at afternoon tea. When the final siren sounded at 5.30pm a similar deficit was posted and the stronger Rutherglen team won the day. Our team consisted of Norm McIntyre (s), Ray Lewis, Bill Butterworth and Jo Wing; Tom Lang (s), Doug McTier, John Banger and Ben Nowell; Keith Eade (s), Gerald Grogan, Bob Keats and G Whinray. Unavailable was Evan James. Our B3 team had previously won this flag in 2009 and 2010 and can hold
their heads high for their great challenge this year. Special Note: A member of this team (who is immediate past president and whose name is John Banger) has been nominated for a very special “8” badge by our chosen charity Friends in Common. The citation reads, “This medal has been awarded in recognition of your first ever eight wrong bias bowls on Wed. 23 March, 2011 at Border Golf”. And, we know it’s true John because all your dobbing mates phoned or accosted us! Coming events: Open Mixed Canadian Pairs – Friday, April 1 at 10am (not 1pm as per program book); Duke of Edinburgh Shield on Saturday and Sunday; and Annual General Meeting, Thurs. Yarrawonga Ladies Bowls Round 2 of the 21 Up was played last Thursday – Winners: U Campbell, P Snowdon, J McLeod, B McDonald. Next round this Thurs. Mar. 31 at 9am. The team of U Campbell, L Edwards, T Woodhall and R King won the Tungamah Tournament last Tuesday – well done.

Yarrawonga Bowls Club A fair bit to report hits week following the Men’s AGM on Sunday. L Driscoll was elected as President with R Jeffcott as his Vice-President and Tony Forristal as Secretary. The men’s Committee is: J Hyland, K Allender, R McKenzie, B Berwick and D Boothey. The Match Committee: J Ellis, B Jeffcott, D Boothey, B Berwick and D Chamberlain and the selectors are to be: P Woods, N Hocking, G Luke, T Edwards and L Driscoll. The club delegates are to be
the president and secretary with the vice-president as emergency. 60+ over delegates are D Chamberlain and B Jeffcott with the press correspondent being B Jeffcott. There is to be four Pennant teams, the members decided to vote to retain 8 side Pennant competitions. The Easter Tournament committee reminds members to place their entries for the tournament as they close on April 8. It gives members an opportunity to play against bowlers from other areas and good entries will help the tournament to improve in coming years. Results for last week were – Mon. 2x4x2 won by G Parker and M Millsom, R/ up: J Lowdell and P Gibbons. Wed. Triples won by B Hanley, J Snowdon and N Borg with T Edwards, J Barnes and K Green R/ up – there were 36 players. Thurs. Twilight bowls won by L Heather and L Curley. A small field for Sat. 2x4x2 won by P Woods and R Filschie. Sunday afternoon saw a semi-final of the 21 Up played between I Woods and J Snowdon with Ian running out the winner; he will play T Forristal next Sunday afternoon in the final. T Forristal won on a forfeit from J Gabriel because of illness.
