Emily Pelehach Solow, daughter of John and Marilyn Pelehach of Oak Ridge, takes a moment after her wedding to husband Devin in November to share some of the exciting local news from her hometown newspaper. Due to social distancing guidelines Emily and Devin’s wedding guests were limited to immediate family, so cardboard cutouts of friends and loved ones were placed in the seats where some of the “real people” would have been during the ceremony.

Scouts with Troop 219 volunteered to help the Northwest Guilford Woman’s Club pick up trash along N.C. 150 the afternoon of Jan. 19, but before getting their work underway they took a few minutes to read some news from their hometown newspaper. As participants in the Adopt A Highway program, the NGWC appreciated the Scouts’ help in fulfi lling their commitment to clear some of our local roadsides of trash. By the way, when the work was done, the Scouts and NGWC members had fi lled several garbage bags with discarded bottles, cans, fast food wrappers and lots of cigarette butts.
