When we first began publishing a community newspaper in November 1996, the Internet was in its infancy and smartphones, tablets, Wi-Fi, Facebook and Twitter were unheard of.

Now, more than 25 years later, the Internet is a source of instantaneous news about what’s going on regionally, statewide, nationally and internationally, and in the race for what news source can be the first to make a story go viral, weekly magazines and daily newspapers continue to adapt and redefine their role.

But despite the explosion in technological advances and ways of connecting with the world, one thing has remained constant: people still want information about what’s going on in their neighbor-

hood and community, whether it’s about things like how roadwork will impact their daily travels, a new restaurant opening up, a rash of home break-ins, or details about a property tax increase.

Dr. Preston Ford returning home and joining Summerfield Family Dentistry Ford said meeting the patients at Summerfield Family Dentistry confirmed his desire to join the team there. “You can tell the patients feel that warm culture, and as much as they can be excited to be the dentist’s office, they are excited to be here,” Ford said. Ben Weston believes the practice’s growth, which has resulted in the need to bring on another dentist, can be attributed to the family feel the practice and staff treating patients as they would want to be treated themselves. “I’m blessed with hardworking patients who value their dental health,” he said. “That’s why I’m proud introduce him (Ford) the community. When Dr. Ford says ‘It’s pleasure meet you,’ he sincerely means that. Ford grew up Jamestown and attended Florence Elementary, Southwest Middle and High Point Christian Academy. In high school he found both the love of his life and his passion for dentistry. “I was always interested science and in being able to help people,” Ford said. “Then high school started dating my wife. Her mom worked dental practice and she would always tell me should come shadow the den tist. finally did, and perfectly with what my goals were.” Ford and his now wife earned their bachelor’s degrees UNC Greensboro, and after four years of undergraduate studies he went UNCChapel Hill to study dentistry. Ultimate Kids expands on Tumblebees’ original vision Tumblebees Ultimate Gym has served the Triad for the past 32 years, offering sense of community for those who have come through doors. As that community has changed, the gym has continued to evolve along with Known gymnastics roots, Tumblebees continues to expand programming to meet the needs customers. “Gymnastics still, and will always remain the center our programming, but how exciting offer more for those who want taketions,” said Heather Carr. Carr, along with Dan Keane, recently joined Scott Lineberry and Tom Newton (husband the late Sally Newton, Tumblebees’ founder) partners this local legacy. “We are not just looking provide Olympic athletes, we are looking to provide foundations for all our athletes to become happy, healthy adults,” Carr said. “We want them know that they have place here, and it’s place where they feel they can do anything.” Just walking through the doors the facility, you can feel the excitement and energy of their sky-is-the-limit approach to extreme sports training in trampoline and tumbling, diving, parkour, ninja warrior, fencing, rock climbing, acro, dance and more. “Our programs are ready to push athletes to their limits in safe, supportive environment,” Carr said. The best part is, the gym welcomes kids ages so the whole family can join on building healthier lifestyle together. From parent-and-baby gymnastic classes to summer camps for school-age children and adult rock wall teams, Tumblebees has programs for everyone looking for fun way challenged and grow. In addition gymnastics classes, Tumblebees recently added the Tumblebees Learning Center, an academic weekday preschool, their programming. Starting this summer, Tumblebees Ultimate Gym will become “Ultimate Kids: Tumblebees.” The name comes from the original owner, Sally Newton, who chose of her LLC. “We know Sally not only wanted the gym evolve, she expected She would proud and encouraging this change,” Carr told us. “Tumblebees will still remain center our programming, the name our gymnastics classes for younger children, but our hope that this new name better encompasses our programs both now and the future.” Sally Newton’s vision for Tumblebees was for be place where people felt they belonged and were part something bigger than themselves, and that is exactly what Tumblebees plans to continue to provide. “The legacy Sally important us,” Carr said. “Remembering why this began key.
