Winter 2006

Report from the President: Dave Achey

Winter Greetings, Thanks for Your Help During My Terms

I am writing this November 25, 2005, a month away from Christmas and the holiday period. With one of the warmest Novembers in recent history, resorts had difficulties opening for the Thanksgiving holiday. Mammoth had the most terrain open and the most successful Thanksgiving holiday period. The rest of us watched it rain, anticipating lowering snow levels and the hope that old man winter would make his arrival. Temperatures are supposed to drop, and the nights ahead look very promising for snowmaking. With more snow expected in the next week, the ski and board season may be in full swing shortly. By the time all of us are reading this in live mode, we will know how this played out; did we have the snow and crowds for the holiday period? Or not. During the early season it is hard to predict the timing and changeable weather patterns of the Lake Tahoe Basin. I would like to express our sincere appreciation to the folks at Mammoth, as well as the crew at Squaw Valley, Mike Livac and Dave Precit. Our ability to operate as an organization is dependent on the help of the ski areas, and we value

Back by popular demand, the 2006 Spring Convention returns to Mammoth Mountain. Below, snowboarders enjoy a run near Chair 2 during a sunny day at the 2004 Convention in Mammoth. See details on Page 3.
