Penn State offers over 400 study abroad programs in 50+ countries. Our programs range from 7 days abroad to a full academic year, and everything in between. With options for virtually any major, there are no limits to your study abroad possibilities. You can study abroad, intern abroad, and/or conduct research abroad—all while earning credit toward your Penn State degree!
Ask yourself, “What do I want to do?” instead of “Where do I want to go?”
How to get started:
Searching for programs:
• Follow the steps to study abroad found on the Global Penn State website
You can begin your program search by visiting Global.psu.edu. From there, you will choose Education Abroad, Students, and finally Program Search.
• Speak with a peer adviser or an education abroad adviser • Meet with your academic adviser • Meet with your college or campus representative for study abroad
Under the advanced search feature, you can narrow down your focus by the following: • Field(s) of study available
• Global.psu.edu/category/stepsstudy-abroad
• Type of program (i.e. exchange, internship, etc.)
What are my options?
• Term of study (fall, spring, summer, etc.)
• Go abroad during the fall or spring semesters, for the entire academic year, during the summer, or even on a short-term program (i.e. over spring or fall break) • Study, intern, or do research abroad • Go abroad with a Penn State faculty member, directly enroll in a university abroad, or study abroad with other international students at a study center
• Region or location * Note that to search for embedded programs, you must choose Outgoing Embedded in the first dropdown menu.
“ Studying abroad provided me with a unique opportunity to step out of my comfort zone and learn more than I thought possible about myself and the world around me.” — Carly Danielson, Education Abroad Peer Adviser CIEE: Shanghai
