The Campus Penn State York is a commuter campus of The Pennsylvania State University, one of the nation’s largest and most widely recognized institutions. The campus enrolls more than 1,052 students, including those from the local area and those who hail from eight states and more than thirteen countries across the globe and live in nearby off-campus housing. Students represent a rich mixture of cultures, backgrounds, and experiences, including recent high school graduates and adults. York offers baccalaureate and associate degrees, a graduate degree, credit certificates and minors that allow students to customize their degree. The campus provides accelerated programs designed for adult students. The campus overlooks historic York in southcentral Pennsylvania, a short drive from Baltimore, Maryland, and two hours from Washington, D.C. Penn State York is a small, engaging college environment with all the resources of a major research university.
The Lee R. Glatfelter Library houses more than 55,000 books, thousands of videos and music CDs, and hundreds of magazines, journals, and newspapers. Computers, laptops, cameras, headphones, study rooms, a multimedia production studio, and wireless network access are available for student use. Students have access to personalized research assistance to help navigate the University Libraries’ nearly 7 million books and hundreds of online databases containing more than 110,000 full-text journals. Outreach Child Care Provider Professional Development – The
York campus provides professional development opportunities to the region’s child care providers. Through a state contract, Penn State York receives funds for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential program. In addition, the campus partners with the Pennsylvania Child Care Association (PACCA) to participate in the Teacher Education And Compensation Helps (T.E.A.C.H.) Early Childhood Pennsylvania Scholarship Program for Human Development and Family Studies students.
Corporate Training – Penn State York’s continuing education office meets the training needs of businesses in our service area. Customized training solutions provide skills to employees in our region.
First Tech Challenge (FTC) South Central PA Regional Qualifier – Penn State York hosts this robotics competition, which brings teams of talented middle and high school students from a variety of areas to the campus for a task-oriented robotics competition.
