2017 ANNUAL GIVING PROGRAM
NITTANY LION CLUB Supporting Student-Athletes
You Make the Difference DEAR NITTANY LION CLUB MEMBERS, The landscape of intercollegiate athletics continues to evolve on a monthly, and sometimes daily basis, and these changes present challenges, as well as tremendous opportunities, for our 800 student-athletes. During the past year, we have been able to provide cost of attendance for our student-athletes and have installed fueling stations online across our facilities to provide additional nutrition opportunities for our students. Our commitment to fulfill these initiatives added an additional $2.5 million to the Intercollegiate Athletics budget. This past year has also seen Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics embark

planning projects that are vital in establishing our road map for both the short and long term. We are excited to consider the potential options for our athletic facilities plans in our daily charge to provide conditions for success for our student-athletes in the classroom, competition and in the community. Penn State is currently one of only seven institutions nationally that has a self-supporting athletic department. We rely on the generosity of our 23,000 Nittany Lion Club members to help fund these initiatives as well as provide scholarships and other vital needs that maintain our exceptional conditions for success for our student-athletes. I cannot thank you enough for your consistent support through the Nittany Lion Club. The importance of your contribution plays a critical part in advancing opportunities for our student-athletes. We need to continue to grow and enhance our Nittany Lion Club membership to close the gap with our scholarship costs that provide the very best resources for our Nittany Lions. Our passionate and dedicated Nittany Lion Club members are the best in the nation and have consistently stepped up to support this great institution and our 31 varsity programs. You play such a critical role in defining why WE ARE!!

You Make the Difference HOW DO WE MEET THE RISE IN COST OF ATTENDANCE AND NUTRITION?
Recent passed NCAA legislation now permits cost of attendance measures that will add an on-going expense of approximately $1.75 million to scholarship costs. Penn State has chosen to provide this resource to our student-atheltes. There are two simple ways to help cover these costs: 1. Give $110 more! Nittany Lion student-athletes have Supporting Penn State Student-Athletes vowed to give 110% in the classroom and in competition. We respectfully ask that you consider giving an extra $110 in 2017 as we continue to foster the success of our student-athletes, teams and programs at Penn State. Receive three (3) NLC points (1 point=$50) when you participate in the program.

2. Consider the Next Level. If half of all NLC members increased their giving to the next benefit level we could provide over $2 million additional funds to support our student-athletes and shape our future leaders. Receive two (2) points for every $100 given.
