MODULAR CARDBOARD CHAIR 36”x36”x48”

Repeatable units are generated to form a cohesive hold that utilizes the unit’s versitility. The final chair is made out of 8 pieces of 5’x8’ corrugated cardboard with identicle score lines, cuts, and folds. As a person moves and shifts on the chair, the units compresses and decompresses in response to the weight acting on it.


SITE-BASED INSTALLATION 60’X110’x20’

The flow of air and water acts upon each of the components in the installation (yarns attached to wooden floats), generating seres of parametrics which continously shift in response to the condition of the site. The installation invisigates how the invisible forces of both the river and the wind can be visually observed and experienced.


MATERIAL OPERATIONS 24”X24”X24”

Derived from a sheepshank knot, the tying method of a volumetric rope is translated into foldings of a flat strip of paper. The resulting unit is the used a base to generate a wholesome mass with spatial qualities and posibilities.


DIGITAL CONSTRUCT 36”x24”x4”

Inability to depict clearly a smaller space within an opaque structure call for a resolution. Rather than changing the physical componet of the object in a way that would allow the hidden spaces to be obviously visible to one’s eye, a change in the way one sees them is implemented. By allowing light to flow through the structure, those individual spaces are being drawn with shadow.


SITE INTERPELLATION: PAWTUCKET, RHODE ISLAND 8’X6’ Informations observed on the site are translated into a physical model. Vertically oriented pieces of butterboards and chipboards depict the flows of elements around the site; the lengths of those vertical components show the different rates in which those elements travel. Horizontally oriented chipboards suggest static landforms and city fabrics where objects in motion delay or take pauses.


CONCEPTUAL SITE MODEL 63�x11� The physical process of human hands acting directly to the material (paper, clay, etc.), in response to the forces anticipated to occur at the actual site, marks changes on the material being operated on. Impressions left on the material in reaction to those forces seed possible programs and infrastructures. The string model diagram depicts the concentration of forces physically applied to prior study models.

enerated based off of the quantity and proximity of lines from a basic grid. The pattern is then projected onto surfaces and extuded mass ( bottom right). A second series of circular patterns are projected from the volumn to spawn expansive points in space (top e space aggrigrated and defined by the mentioned process allow one to begin to discribe potentiality of program and uses.


Variations in elevation and density of each plane in combination with the anatomy of the configurated mass set up different moments where users can diversely utilize.


The project acts as a floating recreational hub where progressions of planes accommodate public performance spaces, open basking areas, and broad passage ways.




A reponse to Francis Roche’s competiton ‘IT HAD BEEN HERE’ “Grass produces neither flower nor sermon on the mountain, nor airplane carrier, but in the end it’s always grass that has the last word. It fills emptiness, grows between, and amongst other things. The flower is beautiful, the cabbage useful, the poppy makes us mad, but grass is overflow.” / Henry Miller The following body of work presents an on-going exploration and exploitation of the land topography as a surface structure, in which its curvatures, bumbs, and burrows is used to initialize series of operations.. Abstracted completely from its context, the study attemps to ground about the land based neither on as a form nor a defined function. but rather as a remapping /redifinitation of the given as a place of departure.

The alotted boundary of the site is printed with topographic lines. The red circles represent the reading of this curvature on the land., the intensity of the changes defined by the size of each circle. diffrientiation between one area to the other is subtle but readable

The site fabric is then fractmented into smaller subdivisions which are then being pulled apart form their origins -distortion of the shape and orientation occours amoung those fragments. This in-between space between the original and the new is taken into interest.. The level of sensitivity can be given interchanably to a specific location at different scales,. Although the project has not come to a point of closure and the abstracted has yet materialized, I hope it present another approach to site evaluation and understanding.
