This treatment is designed for children to reduce the severity of mental health challenges, strengthen coping and resilience, and improve functioning at home, at school and in the community. There are three phases of live-in treatment: the engagement phase which involves family therapy to determine treatment goals, the residential phase which involves the child living at Vanier, and the transition phase which involves supporting the child to move home full time.

In-Home Family Service (IFS) Description

The IFS program is provided by Child and Youth Workers to assist parents in how to respond to their child in ways in the home that support them in co-regulating emotions. A strengths-based approach is used in understanding the family dynamics and how best to support parents to achieve the family’s goals. This program aims to educate parents by teaching them strategies to support the behavioural and/or emotional development of their child.
