The Test Taker’s Guide to the Pearson Test Center Rules Developing your four core communication (listening, reading, writing, and speaking) skills is one of the most important things that you must do to boost your PTE online training and ace the Pearson Test of English. Aside from developing your language skills, you also need to understand the rules and guidelines of the Pearson Test Center to be 100% PTE-ready.

Pearson Test Center Rules Enrolling in a PTE preparation online program is not enough to prepare you for this life-changing exam. You need to understand every aspect of the exam down to the regulations in the PTE testing center. Before entering the Pearson Test Center room, test takers will be asked to read and sign the PTE Academic Test Taker Rules Agreement which covers the following guidelines:


Personal belongings are not allowed inside the testing room. This includes the following: 

mobile phones, hand-held computers, and other electronic devices;

pieces of jewelry and accessories that are longer/wider than 1 cm;

hats, bags, and coats; and

books and other reading materials.

The Pearson Test Center will provide you with a designated locker to store your personal items. However, the test center is not responsible for any lost, stolen or misplaced items.

You will not be allowed to access your locker until you have finished the test and signed out unless it is necessary. For example, examiners who need to take medication at a specific time.

Test takers are not allowed to eat, drink, and smoke inside the Pearson Test Center.

You must remain in your assigned seat and should not cause any disturbance for other test takers.

You must not offer, request, or accept assistance from other test takers or test center personnel.

Copying the test questions is also prohibited. For security reasons, an examiner should not share the test questions or the answers to other examiners.

You cannot access your PTE preparation online study guides, notes, or any other course training material at any time during the test, including breaks.

You will be offered an optional break during the test after you have finished the reading section. A complete palm vein scan is required if you wish to take this break before you leave and go back to the testing room.

You are also not permitted to leave the Pearson Test Center during breaks; however, you are allowed to use the restrooms located within the premises.

After you have finished the exam, you may be asked to complete an optional, onscreen evaluation.
