How to prepare for PTE at home? For everyone who wants to write a PTE examination can start their practice right from home itself. But before starting any practice you should understand the topics properly. Accordingly, we have to allocate the timings for each and every session. Spending time wisely for the studies is the key to success. Most of them don’t know how to or where to spend their time in studies. 1. Speaking and Writing The speaking and writing section allows 77-93 minutes duration and which includes the following topics. -
Personal Introduction Read Aloud A short text will appear in front of your screen. You will have 40 seconds to prepare before the microphone starts recording you. When it starts you have to read it aloud clearly. Practice is very important in this part. Where to pause and how to divide the text into chunks are very important. If you practice a minimum of 30 minutes a day you can score well from this part. - Repeat sentence In this task, you can see a recording button. After 3 seconds you can hear the recording. Once the recording play has finished you have to wait to turn the microphone in red colour and repeat the sentence exactly as you have heard it. This part is very important in this session because if you properly practice this session overall you can score well. Every day if you practice a minimum of 45 minutes on this task you can score well. - Describe image In this task, an image will show in front of you. It may be a graph, picture, map, or chart. You will have 25 seconds to study the image in front of you. Once the microphone turns on you have to describe the image as much as detail. You have to describe the image in 40 seconds. Re-tell lecture Here you will see again a recorder box and there will be an image that is related to the recording. You will get 3 seconds to prepare after that the recording starts to play and you can hear someone is explaining the image. Once it is finished you have to wait till the microphone turns to read and you can summarise within 40 seconds what you have understood from the explanation. Answer short question You can see a recorder box in front of your screen after 3 seconds it will start to play and asking a question. You will get 1 second to prepare for the answer to the question within 10 seconds. - Summarise written text In this task, you can see a short reading passage. You have to summarise the passage between 50-75 words and you will have a total of 10 minutes to complete the task. Underneath the passage, you can see the response box, where you can give your answer. -
Essay
In this task you can see a prompt in front of you, the prompt will make the statement and ask you how much you agree or disagree with the statement. You will get 20 minutes to write an essay including your support points with reasons and examples from your own observations. 2.
Reading
This section will take 32-40 minutes duration. Following tasks are included in this session. -
Reading and Writing: Fill in the blanks
In this task, you will get a reading text with 80 words or less. The text will be missing some keywords. Below the screen, you will find a group of words inside a box, you have to select the appropriate keywords and fill in the blacks. You will get credit for every correct word, so better not to be leaving anything blank even if you are not sure about the answer. These reading tasks are not timed individually so you have to wisely use the entire session time. This is also one of the important sessions to get the score. If you practice every day properly you can get a good score on this part. -
Multiple-choice, choose multiple answers Here you can see an audio recording box with multiple-choice questions beneath it. You have to read the question properly and understand it well then read the statements. Next check the statement in the passage. So you need to concentrate on the statement and understand the meaning very well and choose the answer wisely. - Re-order paragraphs In this task, you will get a reading text with not more than 150 words. The sentences in the text will be in random order. You must organize the sentences in the correct order by clicking on each one and dragging them into the empty box. Here also there is no individual task timings are on so you have to wisely use the entire reading time. -
Multiple-choice, choose single answer
Here you will see a passage and you have to select the correct single answer. You have to read the passage properly and understand it also it is very important to understand the question and answer it properly. 3. Listening PTE Listening is the final section of the test. It will take approximately 45-60 minutes. Here you will be listening to a short recording in each task which will be related to academic subjects likes humanities, natural science, and social science. There are a total of 8 tasks in the listening section. - Summarize spoken text In this task you will see an audio recording box; it will automatically play around 60-90 seconds. Listen properly and you have to write a summary of what you have heard. You have to write between 50 - 70 words pointing to the important parts in the recording.
