II. PTT FA MI LY HI S T O RY

The story of PTT Family began when our founder, a property developer, was inspired by his wife, a talented chef, to combine their love for food with their passion for art, design and architecture. Together with their good friend, who shared the same vision, they opened the Potato Head Brasserie in Jakarta in 2009. Opening this restaurant proved to be a good grounding for us, giving us the opportunity to explore our design sensibilities and establish our own brand of hospitality. Serving classic dishes, we established a style of dining that could be enjoyed time and time again. Curating the interior and exterior spaces themselves, we sourced fittings and fixtures from as far away as Paris, commissioned murals from a young contemporary artist Eko Nugroho, and introduced nature via a vertical garden, to create an atmosphere that pays tribute to old Jakarta in contemporary fashion. The restaurant has become an important part of the local design community, contributing a wide variety of artistic exhibitions, as well as culinary and cocktail events. When we ventured to Bali in 2010 to open the Potato Head Beach Club (PHBC), we hoped that the island would embrace us. It did. Locals and international visitors enjoy our unique esthetic and approach to music, food, drink and entertainment. PHBC houses three

distinct restaurants: the main beach club restaurant and bar, Lilin, which serves tapas style seafood and Tapping shoes, which serves French cuisine with a Japanese twist. In 2012, we opened Tanah Teduh, our first residential project in burgeoning South Jakarta. Having engaged nine of the nation’s leading architects, the project is thoroughly contemporary in its design, yet manages to reference Indonesian architecture of the past. By working with the natural contours of the land and being sensitive to the surroundings, we have created a property that is synonymous with leading edge environmental design. In 2013, PTT Family opened our latest restaurant, the Potato Head Garage, which offers a new take on classic steakhouse favorites and deconstructs the typical steakhouse décor. The restaurant sources a variety of highquality beef grilled on a wood-burning BBQ pit, accompanied with a variety of housemade sauces. The concept is to let “the products speak for themselves,” allowing their natural flavors to shine through. The restaurant also offers a variety of fresh seafood and pastas. From a background of food and beverage and residential real estate, PTT Family is now thrilled to finally expand our hospitality port-

folio into the hotel business with the opening of our first hotel in Seminyak in 2015. As an all-suites hotel within the compound of the Potato Head Beach Club, this hotel will be a haven for design-conscious travelers seeking refuge and personalized service, free of formality. PTT Family has two more exciting hotel projects in Bali, collaborating with two worldrenowned architects, in addition to developing new food and beverage concepts. Over the next couple of years, PTT Family will be launching several new restaurants in Jakarta and another beach club in Bali. In the near future, we also look forward to opening restaurants and hotels abroad, as well as launching our own fashion line.

II. P TT F A M IL Y B U S IN E S S L IN E S

PTT Family began in the hospitality business, but we have aspirations to grow into a lifestyle product company. We started with operating food and beverage establishments, embarked into residential development and hotel management, and are currently creating our fashion line. We are art and music lovers, and already host various exhibits, performances and concerts, so it will not be surprising if we launch our own music label one day. We are not strictly defining our business lines, but the one critical factor in anything we pursue is that we must be passionate about it. Here is a list of the projects that we have accomplished and that are still underway, as well as our growth expectations.

Serving beloved bistro fare and drinks especially concocted by London-based mixologist, Dre Masso, Potato Head Brasserie has become a local darling, voted the best cocktail bar in Jakarta. The restaurant known not only for its modern versions of classic international dishes, but also for its inviting atmosphere with vintage lamps and fittings, large vertical garden and planters along its outdoor seating space, has been called ‘ingeniously quirky’ and awarded for having the best interiors in Jakarta.

Potato Head Beach Club (PHBC) has become a must-see architectural destination in Bali, with its massive coliseum clad in the same antique louvered shutters used in its Jakarta counterpart. The infinity pool and the day beds at the bar deck are the most popular spots to enjoy the sunset. Guests also love having picnics at the lawn while listening to resident DJs showcase their skills. Furthermore, since its opening, PHBC has established itself as the host of the most highly anticipated events in Indonesia, which include film festivals and various programing related to music, fashion and art. PHBC summer parties, featuring concerts by some of the most popular musicians globally, have been recognized with various awards.

For a casual, yet exciting gastronomic adventure, Lilin, with its polished wooden walls and long communal tables, offers eclectic Asian fare, such as hearty curries and rice dishes, and fresh seafood barbecued on open grills. The fried catfish with red chilly sambal and lobster green curry are always a hit and pair well with the fruity and spicy sangrias crafted especially for these dishes. Locals take a bite into memory lane with the fermented cassava cheesecake, a modern twist on a local delicacy.

From his experiences at Michelin-starred restaurants in Japan and France, Chef Hikaru Take masters an expanded repertoire of classic French recipes. He respects quality ingredients and presents them in his dishes with passion and love, at the elegant, yet homey, chandelier-lit restaurant that is Tapping Shoes.

V . P OTA TO H E A D G A R A G E , JA KA RTA ( 2 0 1 3 )

Potato Head Garage is our latest concept, offering a new take on classic steakhouse favorites. Sourcing a variety of high-quality beef and game, our idea is to “let the products speak for themselves,” allowing their natural flavors to shine through. For non-red meat eaters, the restaurant will also offer a variety of fresh seafood simply grilled on a wood-burning BBQ pit, accompanied with a variety of house made sauces. The restaurant’s ambiance will be different, deconstructing typical steakhouse décor.

Tanah Teduh is a residential project aiming to showcase Indonesian contemporary architecture. This project answers the needs of the developer, architects and end-users by focusing equally on its aesthetics as it does on its function. Headed by prominent Indonesian architect, Andra Matin as principle architect and master planner, Tanah Teduh was established to find a riveting solution to everyday living. With Andra Matin, Tanah Teduh gathered nine like-minded architects, to design a space that respects its pre-existing landscape. The project encourages an honest, amiable living experience, unobtrusive to its surroundings, enveloped by a healthy distribution of sunlight and open ventilation.

At Tanah Teduh, only twenty percent of the site is built up, the rest is maintained in its original form. The trees, the natural pond and elevations remain intact, construction materials have been reclaimed, recycled from piers and abandoned buildings to further lessen the projects environmental impact.

I I . P T T S UI T ES S EM IN Y A K , BA LI ( 2 0 1 5 )

“Unlike the Beach Club which is clamoring with activity, we wanted the hotel to best be peaceful. Modern expression felt through strong geometric lines, but still leaving a mark on the land of Bali, with elevations ordered as: head, body, and feet. Material selection dominated with local brick, with details developed more contemporarily making the hotel and the club complement one another, Different, but together act as one” - Andra Matin

This 59-unit all-suites boutique hotel will be located within the compound of our Potato Head Beach Club, at Seminyak Beach, the most up and coming beach stretch and the most prestigious address in Bali. Guests will have the luxury to discover some of the best restaurants & bars on the island and more importantly, enjoy PHBC, the talk-of-thetown beach club on the Island. This project is our first foray into hotels opening this hotel is synonymous to opening our own home to our family and friends, who have been loyally supporting us from the very beginning. Likewise, the hotel’s service will be familial, friendly, down-to-earth and unpretentious. PTT Suites Seminyak will offer our guests a refuge from the energy of the Potato Head Beach Club.

In terms of design, the hotel is another creation of our long-time friend, leading architect, Andra Matin, who describes the hotel as being: “designed with modernity in mind, using Indonesian local materials, such as authentic Balinese red bricks, teak wood, hand-made tiles from Java and terrazzo made on-premises, expressing the idea of tropical architecture. This four-story hotel is a perfect blend of Balinese vernacular and current lifestyle. The hotel will be chic and eclectic, yet warm, lasting, and elegant in every detail.”

III. PTT LUXE, BALI (2017)

PTT LUXE, our second hotel, will be located on the last remaining beachfront parcel in Seminyak. The site is adjacent to the Potato Head Beach Club and PTT Suites Seminyak. PTT Luxe will be a more sophisticated and mature version of PTT Suites. We have the privilege of working with one of the best architects in the world, Rem Koolhas of OMA (The Office for Metropolitan Architecture). This project would not be a typical resort that simply caters to foreign tourists. The design will completely rethink the resort typology that has become ubiquitous on Bali and other tropical destinations. This different interpretation of “luxury” abandons the notion of ‘exclusivity’, where the resort is reconsidered as a part - even an extension of - the local community.

The work of Rem Koolhaas and OMA has won numerous international awards including the Pritzker Architecture Prize in 2000. OMA has produced some of the most famous contemporary architecture, such as the CCTV building in Beijing, the Seattle Public Library, Casa da Música in Porto, the Prada Epicenter in Los Angeles and Waterfront City in Dubai.

II. PTT SUITES CANGGU (2018)

PTT Family has secured a prime beachfront location in Canggu, Bali to be home to their next beach club and hotel. The beach club will embrace the active lifestyle of the residents in the up-and-coming neighborhood of Canggu with its beautiful beachfront strip with waves perfect for surfing, fostering a lively and friendly beach community. The beach club will provide a vibrant social and recreational setting, featuring activities, such as swimming, surfing, volleyball, health and fitness, and holistic wellness through spa, meditation and yoga. PTT Suites Canggu will be a relaxing sanctuary, a welcome respite from all the beach club activities. The beach club and hotel will house restaurants and bars serving dishes and drinks that are fresh, healthy and local, complementing the vibe of the locale.

This project is designed by well-known Brazilian architect, Marcio Kogan, founder of Studio MK27. Studio MK27 has won many Brazilian and international architecture awards, including the Wallpaper Design Awards, Record House, D&AD “Yellow Pencil, LEAF Awards, Dedalo Minosse International Prize and Barbara Cappochin Foundation Prize. Studio MK27 has also been selected finalist several times for the World Architecture Festival.

PTT SELECT (2013)

We are currently developing our own fashion line, PTT Select, which is not just a brand, it is a lifestyle proposition that has evolved naturally from PTT Family’s core hospitality business lines (food and beverage, residences and hotels). PTT Select offers a strong, mature aesthetic with a fashion-forward design, and combines functionality and comfort with quality materials and detailed finishes. Manage by Jeff Staple of Staple Design New York; we aim to bring PTT Select in to the international field gaining global momentous. This year we are thrilled to be working together with various personalities in the creative industry to launch PTT Select’s first capsule collection. One of them is Japan’s leading design personality Kenya Hara - the man behind Muji who is considered the master of quality design. Staying to its core, PTT Select is a lifestyle brand that is influenced by its Indonesian heritage and history.

ARK GALERIE (2007)

Ark Galerie was established in April 2007. In its early development Ark Galerie has gained a good reputation and been recognized as one of the most important galleries in Indonesia. One of the main goals of Ark Galerie is to promote and exhibit the works of Indonesian and other South East Asian artists in both national and international art scenes.
