Worth the Wait “In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.” -Poet Margaret Atwood
I
t seems that over the past decade, we have often heard the refrain, “We just don’t have winters like we used to.” Well, the spell has been broken as we in the Northeast struggled through almost four months of Siberia. Ah!...the good old days. This winter, together with the continuing coronavirus pandemic, has tested our resilience and spirit like no other time in recent memory. But one good thing about this world...there is sure to be spring. And are we ever ready this time! Spring is more daylight, you can open your windows, clean the house finally; birds return, vegetable and flower seeds are planted, there’s baseball and green grass, trout fishing, and golf tee times...you can GO OUTSIDE! 6
We have been through a lot. We’re tired of it. Soon we will see the leaves return on the trees, and baby animals will be everywhere. So spring will come, and so will happiness. Hold on. Life will be warmer. Sunshine is the best medicine. All of us at The Journal extend warm wishes for better days ahead and hope we can join forces together in spirit, move forward, and turn the page into a new season of hope and aspirations realized.
