To help achieve our mission, we partner with a broad variety of suppliers, including small and diverse

businesses to provide us with that unique advantage. Our goal is to give businesses owned by minorities, women, the disadvantaged, the disabled, and veterans an opportunity to present their products, services and expertise to Siemens. We currently have business relationships with hundreds of small, minority-owned businesses. By working with these suppliers, we align with our customers’ primary requirements, and we also develop relationships that enhance our creativity and innovation.

Siemens Healthcare The Siemens Healthcare Sector is one of the world’s largest suppliers to the healthcare industry and a trendsetter in medical imaging, laboratory diagnostics, medical information technology and hearing aids. Siemens offers its customers products and solutions for the entire range of patient care from a single source – from prevention and early detection to diagnosis, and on to treatment and aftercare.

By optimizing clinical workflows for the most common diseases, Siemens also makes healthcare faster, better and more cost-effective. The Healthcare sector FY2012 small and diverse business spend was 26% of their overall annual spend.

We participate in local and regional Minority and Women Owned Supplier Councils (NMSDC, WBENC) and attend trade fairs to strengthen the relationships with our existing suppliers and to identify new opportunities.

With our complete range of automation technologies, drive trains, intelligent software solutions, vast industry expertise and closely integrated services, we’re increasing the productivity, efficiency and flexibility of our customers – while at the same time strengthening our own competitiveness. Industry’s focus on the needs of its customers in specific markets enables an end-to-end offering from a single source– ranging from individual products and solutions to complete system integration and services. In FY2012, small and diverse business spend was 15% of Siemens Industry’s overall annual spend.

Siemens Infrastructure & Cities The Siemens Infrastructure & Cities sector is transforming cities with answers to North America’s infrastructure challenges. We help our customers improve performance by modernizing infrastructure and developing proven engineering solutions for energy-efficient, sustainable and secure cities. Our portfolio encompasses complete traffic and transportation systems, intelligent logistics, building security systems, power distribution equipment, and environmentally compatible building technologies and solutions that modernize the way power is transmitted and distributed to enhance the smart consumption of electricity. In FY2012, small and diverse business spend was 21% of the Infrastructure & Cities sector’s overall annual spend.


Small Business Message from Siemens Industry, Inc. Siemens Industry, Inc. began operations on October 1, 2009 as the U.S. affiliate of Siemens’ global Industry sector. As of October 1, 2011, the existing global Industry sector was divided into two specialized sectors to better meet our customers’ needs: Industry and Infrastructures & Cities. All Small Business activities for these two sectors are managed jointly with a focus on increasing internal awareness, achieving internal and external compliance and strengthening our presence in the Small Business community by supporting multiple outreach activities. In the near future, Siemens Industry

will host Small Business events focusing on supplier development activities such as establishing supplier quality standards, compliance with government regulations, social responsibility, environmental sustainability, and other requirements that Siemens Industry views as business expectations with its supply chain. We back our commitment to the Small Business initiative by establishing key performance indicators that allow us to measure our active involvement and awareness in continuously increasing strategic relationships with qualified Small and Diverse businesses.

The combined FY2012 small and diverse business spend for Siemens Industry, Inc., accounts for 36% of the total Siemens U.S. diverse spend.


Siemens Energy The Siemens Energy sector is the world’s leading supplier of a complete spectrum of products, services and solutions for the generation and delivery of power and for the extraction, conversion, and transport of oil and gas. The Energy sector develops and builds fossil-fueled power plants, power-generating components, wind turbines, turbines for use as mechanical

drives, compressors for industrial applications, air pollution control technologies, and instrumentation and control systems. It offers operations, maintenance, and management services for its own technology as well as that of other manufacturers. In FY2012, Small and Diverse business spend was 34% of the Energy sector’s overall annual spend.

Small Business Message from Siemens Energy The Siemens Energy, Inc. Small and Diverse business program has implemented an early involvement strategy and partnered with both Supply Management and Sales and Marketing to help increase our product material content provided by Small and Diverse Businesses. Siemens Energy also advertises in our end customers’ local area to recruit and develop Small and Diverse Business enterprises for existing and future material and services contracts. For the last 14 years, in an effort to promote and recognize our Small and Diverse suppliers, Siemens Energy has

sponsored an annual Small Business awards banquet hosted by the company’s CEO. This event provides recognition to various minority supplier categories based on demonstrated performance criteria and success stories, which are voted on by the Supply Management Small & Minority Business council members. In addition, Siemens Energy is represented at and promotes outreach programs for Small and Diverse Businesses by attending small and minority business procurement conferences and trade shows.
