The Site - Oxford Centre for Innovation Also known as the Macclesfield House, it was built in 1968-9 and was designed by Albert E. Smith, the County architect. Macclesfield House remains in office use but has been subject to extensive internal refurbishment in recent years. Today, the building is occupied by the Oxford Centre for Innovation. The building is a Brutalist architecture which have a ‘blocky’ appearance from the outside. It looks rigid and built up from a large-scale use of poured concrete. Generally, this architectural style has been criticised for being unwelcoming and inhuman.

The study of building elevation colours as a guideline on how the design proposal blends the existing and new development, Barton Park colour together. The colour palette of existing Barton is more dull compared to Barton Park. Site is located between the existing Barton neighbourhood and new development. A splash of colour to indicate the location of site where activities in the building spreading into both neighbourhood. 22

Putrajaya became one of the major tourist spot where variety activities are carried out annually or daily such as Hot Air Balloon event. Potential to be a more vibrant place during the day and night time. Providing a proper platform for the youth to spend their time. Also, the site is suffering from the lacking of public transport access and the site is empty during the night time. The reclamation project causes a threat as the development cause the lack of parking spaces.
