WHERE TO STAY Traveling to Paris can be a bit overwhelming, especially when selecting a hotel. Les Jardins du Faubourg Located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris behind the facade of a private mansion this hotel that has quietly opened at the beginning of the Summer. With a prime location, very close to the Champs ElysĂŠes, the hotel features a green courtyard and interiors curated by Arnaud Bezhadi. Amenities include a cozy bar, a restaurant signed by chef Bruno Doucet and a spa.
Sinner After the huge success of the Nolinski and the Brach, the Evok group expanded their list of Hotels in Paris, with the luxury hotel Sinner. The new hotel features interiors signed by the renowned interior designer Philippe Starck. Located in the heart of Les Marais, this hotel features a Hamman, a spa, a restaurant, and a bar. Le Ballu The Hotel Le Ballu takes its guests into an immersive experience somewhere between retro graphic novels and Eastern Europe. With a 1960’s vibe, the hotel is located in the Pigalle quarter. The hotel features an haute cuisine restaurant signed by chef Michaël Riss.
Ritz As one of the most luxurious hotels in Paris, the Ritz has welcomed many guests throughout the years, including Hemingway and Coco Chanel. In homage to these famous guests, the Ritz has created the Coco Chanel Suite, a modern suite full of class and luxury, that reflects the style of the founder of Chanel. RISING TALENTS The Rising Talents Awards is one of those exciting events, an edition that already counted with talents from Italy, Lebanon, China, and the United States. For this new edition, the spotlight returns closer to home with a carefully curated selection of five individual designers and one duo nominated by a jury.

Adrien Garcia After studying at ENSCI Les Ateliers in Paris and the University of Arts in Berlin, Adrien Garcia worked for five years for an interior design practice specialized in wellness and spa projects. He set up his own firm in 2019 and is currently in the process of developing his debut furniture collection.

Julie Richoz The Franco-Swiss designer won the Jury Grand Prix at the Design Parade at the Villa Noailles in 2012 and the Swiss Design Award in 2015. She assisted Pierre Charpin for three years before setting up her own firm, since when she has created objects and furniture for manufacturers such as Louis Poulsen, Tectona, and the Manufacture de Cogolin. Her work is also represented by the Galerie kreo in Paris and the Libby Sellers Gallery in London.

Laureline Galliot She trained as a dancer and as a textile colorist before taking a degree in design at ENSCI-Les Ateliers in Paris. Using an iPad and virtual reality software initially developed for the animated film industry, she creates objects by sculpting with color. Four of them have already found their way into the French National Design Collection at the Centre National des Arts Plastiques in Paris.

Mathieu Peyroulet Ghilini Mathieu Peyroulet Ghilini first came to prominence after winning the Jury Grand Prize at the Design Parade at the Villa Noailles in 2013 for his project Sophistication. His work, which is characterized by an interplay of simple geometric forms, has been exhibited at the Pompidou Center in Paris and the French Institute in Cologne.

Natacha & Sacha The Paris-based duo Natacha Poutoux and Sacha Hourcade are motivated to revolutionizing the world of household electrical appliances and to bring the design to fields where it is often ignored. The pair both graduated from ENSCI Les Ateliers. They founded their own firm in 2017.

Wendy Andreu A graduate of both the Ecole Boulle in Paris and the Design Academy in Eindhoven, Wendy Andreu places a contemporary design. In 2017, she won the Dorothy Wasman Textile Design Award during New York’s Textile Month for her innovative fabric Regen. Her clients include fashion designer Rick Owens and the London design studio Toogood. She is also represented by the prestigious Milan-based design gallery, Nilufar.

Maison Et Objet 2020 has elected Michael Anastassiades as the designer of the year for the next edition! Happening from January 17th-21st, in Paris, this design fair will start the new year in the best way ever, with the showcase of novelties and trends from exciting and luxurious exhibitors. This designer first presented his brand at this prestigious fair, so it made absolute sense for him to be coming back as the designer of the year. Michael Anastassiades launched his amazing lighting brand in 2007, where he first presented his collection at the Maison et Objet. Now, he is coming back as Designer of the Year. In the meantime, he has become one of the most poetic and prolific lighting designers working today. In his work, the Cypriot designer uses simple shapes and volumes – a sphere, a line, a circle – to create a rich language where uncertainty and imbalance are embraced. After training as a civil engineer and taking a master’s degree in industrial design at the Royal College of Art, he founded his studio in London in 1994 and his incredible brand in 2007. Although best

known for his lighting, he has designed with the same rigor and clarity in all fields: furniture for the likes of B&B Italia, Herman Miller, Cassina; drinking glasses for Lobmeyr; speakers for Bang & Olufsen; a public project in Mint Street, London; a drinking fountain for the Victoria & Albert Museum. His work can be found in permanent collections at the Museum Of Modern Art in New York, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, the MAK in Vienna, the Crafts Council in London and the FRAC Centre in Orleans France. He was drawn to lighting early on, for its poetic qualities, but was aware that no company would hire him until he had made a name for himself. Instead of being discouraged, he decided to take the development and production of his designs in his own hands. Starting his own brand gave him the chance to test the boundaries and design without compromises. By the time he started to collaborate with Flos, he had gained experience and

was ready for new challenges. He had unexpected freedom to invent, and could count on the expertise of the company to experiment with technical solutions that up to that moment had not been available to him. The simplicity encourages curiosity, and curiosity leads to participation and interaction, a constant feature of all Anastassiades’ projects. A perfect example is The Fleet Drinking Fountain, which conceals the technical aspects without compromising aesthetics and has become more of an experience than just a place to stop and fill a bottle. He strongly believes we should surround ourselves with objects that will last a very long time, that design should not be short-sighted. His desire is to design for the long term and indeed his objects have a timeless quality to them.

At this year’s edition of the event, Michael Anastassiades wants to offer an experience, besides presenting his collection. For the very first time, all 16 of his Mobile Chandeliers, will be showcased together: in the dark space, the lights, propelled by motors, will move as if planets. Once more, Anastassiades is working simultaneously with the qualities and conditions of darkness and light and displaying them at Maison Et Objet 2020.
